Resource center for parents and children opened in Naryn
Posted August 26th, 2019 by librarian-hdAKIPRESS.COM - The opening ceremony of a parental resource center in the Naryn District Library named after E. Ibraev took place in Naryn on August 21, the Aga Khan Foundation reports.
The opening of the center was made possible thanks to a joint initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation and the Aga Khan Academy, which are both agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network.

Delhi ‘baolis’: Stepping into the past to manage water needs 2019-08-26

Once important community spaces, stepwells from centuries ago needn’t just be relics of the past for tourists and history buffs but can be used to conserve water in these arid times, even with dipping groundwater levels, say conservationists and historians.

Aga Khan Ismaili Muslims share Idd with 800 orphans

Kasangati Orphans Fund Society (KOFS) has said continuing food donations received from the Shai Ismaili Muslim community, who are the followers of His Highness the Aga Khan, has enabled them to feed 800 orphans under their care.
Located in Kawanda, Wakiso District, the orphanage is called Kasangati because it started from there with few children but later relocated to near Kawanda following an increase in the number of orphans sheltering at the orphanage.

Third place for Ireland as Britain claim Aga Khan Trophy 2019-08-09

Nevertheless, a top-three finish was sufficient for Ireland to book their place at October’s Nations Cup world final in Barcelona, where a team qualification place for the 2020 Olympics will be at stake.
Riding Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu, Limerick’s Paul O’Shea produced a superb double-clear round at the RDS.

Aga Khan Network has invested US$300 million in Mozambique since 2001
Posted August 10th, 2019 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan Development Network has invested about US$300 million (€267 million) in socio-economic projects in Mozambique since 2001, the agency’s representative in the country said on Wednesday.
The money has been spent on programmes in the agriculture and food security, health, financial inclusion, education and civil society and tourism sectors, Nazim Ahmad said in Maputo during a reception for notables on the occasion of the “Imamat Day of His Highness the Aga Khan”.

Aga Khan, UK lottery to fund PWDs
Posted August 4th, 2019 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the National Lottery Community UK have launched $1m (Shs3.7b) fund for building the capacity of disabled persons organisations.
Under the arrangement, AKDN will provide $500,000, while the National Lottery Community UK will provide $505,000.
The two-year programme will be implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation Uganda, Civ-Source, Independent Development Fund and the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU).

AKU ranked among world's top 100 universities for clinical medicine

The Aga Khan University (AKU) has been placed among the top 100 universities for clinical medicine and the top 200 for public health in the world.
The rankings were published by the Academic Ranking of World Universities, also known as ShanghaiRanking, which is an annual publication of worldwide university rankings.
In ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2019, AKU is the only Pakistani university featured among the top 500 institutes for clinical medicine and public health.

The agreement had been made by NDRMF for providing grant financing up to Rs 579.621 million for the project titled "Promoting Integrated Mountain Safety in Northern Pakistan (PIMSNP)", a press release said.

Shia Imami Ismaili Council in UK gets Asian businessman as president

Naushad Jivraj took over the role on July 11 and will serve a three-year term.
Jivraj is the CEO of Queensway Group, a family business founded in the 1970s with interests in the real estate and franchise sectors.
The company are franchisees of the Starbucks brand in the UK with 14 stores and the KFC brand in Austria and Slovakia where they operate 10 stores.

Ismaili Centre exhibition opens 2019-07-13

Prince Amyn, the Aga Khan’s brother, officially opened the exhibition last Thursday (4) at the Centre’s newly reopened Zamana Space.
Seeing Through Babel is a solo exhibition by a Syrian-Armenian artist, Kevork Mourad.
