Third place for Ireland as Britain claim Aga Khan Trophy 2019-08-09
Posted August 12th, 2019 by librarian-hdIRELAND HAD TO settle for third place today in the FEI Nations Cup of Ireland at the Dublin Horse Show, with Britain getting their hands on the Aga Khan Trophy for the 27th time.
Nevertheless, a top-three finish was sufficient for Ireland to book their place at October’s Nations Cup world final in Barcelona, where a team qualification place for the 2020 Olympics will be at stake.
Riding Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu, Limerick’s Paul O’Shea produced a superb double-clear round at the RDS.

Hats off to Mexico in Aga Khan at Dublin Horse Show 2018-08-12
Posted August 13th, 2018 by librarian-hdreland had to settle for a three-way share of second place in the Longines FEI Nations Cup at Dublin Horse Show yesterday where it was the team from Mexico who were waving at the finish after a brilliant second round performance saw them seize the initiative from their hosts and romp to a first ever Aga Khan triumph.
It was heartache for Ireland in the RDS as Mexico prevailed in a jump-off to claim their first-ever Aga Khan trophy.

President Higgins of Ireland meets Aga Khan Áras an Uachtaráin 2018-8-11
Posted August 12th, 2018 by librarian-hdPresident Michael D Higgins hosted the Aga Khan at a reception in Áras an Uachtaráin on Saturday marking the Shia Muslim leader’s 60th anniversary in office.
The occasion honoured the conclusion of Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini’s, (Aga Khan IV) accession to the Imamat, the institution and office of spiritual leadership of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.
The Aga Khan’s Diamond Jubilee year concluded on July 11th last.

Piled on pressure
It was Team USA who took the title in the final leg of the FEI Nations Cup Jumping Europe Division 1 League in Dublin, finishing on a zero score.
The Netherlands and France threw down a challenge in the closing stages of the competition, which piled the pressure on American anchor Laura Kraut. However, the double-Olympian was more than up to the task and posted the second US double clear of the competition riding Confu, to secure victory.

Posted July 9th, 2009 by heritageAlamshar won the Irish Derby by half-a-length from favorite Dalakhani at The Curragh on Sunday to end the French Derby winner's unbeaten record and deliver a home victory for jockey Johnny Murtagh and trainer John Oxx.
Alamshar, who was third in the Epsom Derby, and Dalakhani, unbeaten in six outings before Sunday's race, were left to battle it out as the furious pace left the field trailing with the two horses running neck-and-neck two furlongs from home.
