Syria’s ancient Aleppo souk poised to regain its bustle 2019-03-11
Posted March 21st, 2019 by librarian-hdAleppo: On the domed roof of a historical market in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, architect Bassel Al Daher moves between workers painstakingly working to erase the scars of war.
Men wearing vests and helmets repair parts of the roof still bearing visible traces of the four-year-long battle for the former rebel stronghold.
They cover its charred surface with a fresh coat of white paint as part of a wider effort to rehabilitate the Saqatiya market, or souk in Arabic.

Govt., Aga Khan trust to digitise Anganwadi services data 2019-03-17

The Department for Women, Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens (DWCD) will soon have a project monitoring unit (PMU) to monitor the data of children, pregnant and lactating mothers served by the Anganwadi centres across the State.
The DWCD has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Aga Khan Foundation which has agreed to support the PMU. Currently, the department’s internal IT Cell is digitising the data uploaded by Anganwadi supervisors.

Afghanistan- MoU Signed on $631m Hydropower Dam in Badakhshan 2019-03-20
Posted March 21st, 2019 by librarian-hd(MENAFN - Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace on power supply to northeastern Badakhshan province and construction of a hydroelectric dam there at a cost of $631 million.
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the MoU was signed between acting energy and water minister Mohammad Gul Khulami and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) head Eng. Amanullah Ghalib and representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

The Aga Khan, who also heads the Aga Khan Development Network, will now support the delivery of the work of The Prince's Trust in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and through local partners in India, Jordan, Pakistan, Malta, Barbados and Greece, the trust said in a statement.

Fred Hutch and Aga Khan University set stage for a global health collaboration 2019-03-11
Posted March 12th, 2019 by librarian-hdFred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on Tuesday formally announced a goal to collaborate on global health programs with Aga Khan University, which operates medical schools and hospitals throughout the developing world.
Dr. Gary Gilliland, president and director of Fred Hutch, and Firoz Rasul, president of Aga Khan University, signed a memorandum of understanding on March 5 outlining their intentions to develop a five-year relationship to advance cancer research and training and help build an improved medical infrastructure.

The Premier issued the directive yesterday during the inauguration of the Sh192-billion worth expanded (Phase II) Aga Khan Hospital building in Dar es Salaam, insisting that the government wanted to keep on working closely with the Network to enhance improvement in various key sectors.

Pfizer partners with AKUH to support needy cancer patients 2019-02-26
Posted March 9th, 2019 by librarian-hdPfizer Pakistan Ltd (Pfizer) has entered in to a partnership with The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) for self-funded patients and The Patient Behbud Society for AKUH (PBS) to provide access to quality targeted therapy treatment to cancer patients without financial means. Patients suffering from gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), metastatic renal cell carcinoma (MRCC) and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET) will benefit from the partnership. The announcement came during an official signing ceremony held at the University Hospital premises in Karachi.
