NEW DELHI: The Humayun World Heritage Site Museum, set to be inaugurated on July 29, brings to life the 700 years of pluralistic cultural traditions of the ancient city’s historic neighbourhoods– Nizamuddin, named after 13th century Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.

With the help of 3-D illustrations, immersive screens, replicas of Mughal era architecture and rare artefacts, the museum records the life of emperor Humayun and the profound connections which the Mughals shared with the ‘sacred Sufi landscape’ of the city.

New Delhi, Jul 22 (PTI) The “country’s first” sunken museum at the magnificent Humayun’s Tomb site in Delhi that marries modern 21st-century architecture with Mughal-era craftsmanship in its design is all set for its inauguration next week.

The museum, whose layout is inspired by the medieval ‘baolis’ or traditional water tanks, is slated to be inaugurated by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on June 29, coinciding with the ongoing meeting of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) in the national capital, an official source told PTI.

Earlier today, Prince Amyn, Prince Hussain, and Princess Fareen attended an Imamat Day reception at the Diwan of the Ismaili Imamat, along with senior leaders of the Portuguese government, members of the diplomatic community, civil society, and Jamati and AKDN leaders.

Prince Amyn extended a warm welcome to guests at the event, which was held to commemorate Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 67th Imamat Day. He spoke of the Imamat’s partnership with Portugal to improve the lives of people.

Calandagan dominated the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes (2400m) on Friday, becoming the first French-trained winner at Royal Ascot since Watch Me in the 2019 Coronation Stakes.

Like Watch Me, Calandagan was sent over by Francis-Henri Graffard, who trains the son of Gleneagles for his owner/breeder HH The Aga Khan.
