Pope Francis has special audience with Prince Rahim as part of series of interreligious encounters in Lisbon 2023-08-04
Posted August 4th, 2023 by librarian-hdAs Pope Francis returned to the Apostolic Nunciature ahead of lunch on Friday, he held a series of brief meetings with three separate delegations, according to the Holy See Press Office.
The Pope met first with a delegation from the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID), accompanied by Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue.

Centro Ismaili: 25 years of a Lisbon landmark 2023-07-12

Members of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s family and President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa were present to mark this milestone moment for the Jamat in Portugal.
Prince Amyn, Prince Rahim, and Prince Aly Muhammad joined guests to celebrate a momentous occasion — 25 years of the Centro Ismaili, Lisboa. Since opening in 1998, the building has stood tall, embodying the principles of pluralism, knowledge sharing, and dialogue.

Municipality of Porto and the Aga Khan Portugal Foundation signed a cooperation agreement 2023-06-06
2023, June 6th: Municipality of Porto and Aga Khan Portugal Foundation sign cooperation agreement, with a special focus on publics and territories with greater challenges". The document was signed by the Mayor, Rui Moreira, and Prince Amyn Aga Khan, even before the "Schools2030 Global Forum", which takes place for the first time in our country.
The agreement aims to "promote pluralism and citizenship through participation, networking and the creation of innovative and sustainable responses",

Prince Rahim and the President of Portugal visit the Royal Treasure Museum 2023-02-24
Posted March 4th, 2023 by librarian-hdPrince Rahim, together with his younger son, Prince Sinan, and the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, yesterday visited the Royal Treasure Museum at the Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon, at the invitation of the Minister of Culture, Pedro Adão e Silva.
They were accompanied by the Secretary of State for Culture, Isabel Cordeiro; the Museum Director, José Alberto Ribeiro; the Diplomatic Representative of the Ismaili Imamat to Portugal, Nazim Ahmad; and the President of the Ismaili Council for Portugal, Rahim Firozali.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan joined the Mayor of Sintra, Basílio Horta, the President of the Foundation for Science and Technology, Madalena Alves and other experts at the Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval, Sintra, Portugal. A roundtable was held on “Future skills and emerging trends”, and two alumni spoke about what the programme had meant for them.

Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam and spiritual leader of the Ismaili Shia Muslims, is the most recent Portuguese citizen . The announcement was made by the President of the Republic during the closing ceremony of the Aga Khan Music Awards, which took place in Lisbon this Sunday. The attribution of Portuguese citizenship was approved by the government two weeks ago, but only now announced by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and in recognition of the actions undertaken by the Prince in favor of the Portuguese Republic .

Greek President visits Ismaili Centre, Lisbon 2022-04-03
Posted April 7th, 2022 by librarian-hdThe President of Greece, Ms Katerina Sakellaropoulou, visited the Ismaili Centre, Lisbon, during her three-day trip to Portugal last week. She was welcomed to the Centre by Princess Zahra and Prince Hussain.
At the Ismaili Centre, President Sakellaropoulou also met with Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Francisco André, and leaders of the Jamat and AKDN. Ms Sakellaropoulou, the first woman to be elected President of Greece, has been in office since March 2020.

Lisbon, Portugal 2022-march 26:
Ismaili CIVIC Portugal hosted a blood donation campaign today at the Ismaili Centre in Lisbon. The Portuguese Minister for Health and Prince Hussain attended the pop-up clinic, organised to boost blood reserves in the country.
Service and volunteering have long been part of Ismaili tradition, as has the recognition of the sanctity of human life. In the Qur’an, it is stated that “Whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity.” (5:32)
