Nairobi, Kenya, 13 February 2026 – Princess Zahra Aga Khan was today decorated with the national honour of Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.) by His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto, in recognition of her distinguished and outstanding services to the nation.

The Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart is among Kenya’s highest civilian honours.

Nairobi, Kenya, 13 February 2026 – Princess Zahra Aga Khan was today decorated with the national honour of Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.) by His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto, in recognition of her distinguished and outstanding services to the nation.

The Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart is among Kenya’s highest civilian honours.

The ceremony was held at State House Nairobi on Friday, where President Ruto praised Zahra for her longstanding commitment to advancing health, education and social development through the Aga Khan Development Network.

Princess Zahra was decorated today with the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.), one of Kenya’s highest civilian honours, in recognition of her distinguished service to the nation’s health, education, and socio-economic development.

United Nations health agencies, in partnership with Aga Khan University (AKU), have agreed to align institutional priorities to support African-driven health system transformation.

The commitment was made at a high-level meeting held ahead of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting (WHSRM), where stakeholders reviewed strategies for strengthening sustainable, locally driven health systems across Africa.

Our beloved 50th Holy Imam Shah Rahim arrived in Nairobi on Monday August 25th 2025. He was greeted by Kenya Government officials and dignitaries from the Ismaili community. Hundreds of other Ismaili community members were also present at the airport to welcome Hazar Imam who had arrived to grant Holy Didar to Kenya Jamat. This was Hazar Imam's first visit to Kenya after His inauguration as our 50th Imam.

Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications and Kenya Editors Guild on Monday signed a partnership agreement aimed at improving the quality of journalism in the country.

The partnership will see members of the guild undergo training at the university while the institution of higher learning will gain professional insights from the media practitioners.

Talks to forge the partnership began three years ago when it emerged during a panel discussion that there was a disconnect between the academia and practising journalists.

It is with the greatest satisfaction and the deepest gratitude that I accept the Kenya Charter of the Aga Khan University. My only regret is that, due to the pandemic, I cannot be present in person to receive the instruments of authority, and to celebrate this momentous occasion in the University’s history.

NAIROBI, Kenya June 4 – Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH,N) has been accredited as a Centre of Excellence for the management of Acute Primary Stroke, becoming the first hospital in Africa to achieve this certification.

The accreditation was granted by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the recognized global leader in health quality standards, following a rigorous Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC) audit conducted in May 2021.

1992, April 22: 5-day visit to Uganda and Kenya. H.H. The Aga Khan, Mowlana Shah Karim signed Accords with both Governments. The Accords acknowledge the Aga Khan Development Network's contribution in the region. At the signing ceremony in Nairobi, President Moi of Kenya commended the institutions of the Development Network for actively serving Kenya in the fields of education and health for more than 50 years. "They were among the pioneers who opened up their institutions to people of all races and religion long before independence" Moi said.

Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH,N) has donated over 20,000 Covid-19 testing kits valued at Ksh 44 million to the Ministry of Health to boost its Covid-19 response.

The donation is financed by the German government through a grant offered by the German Development Bank (KFW) to AKUH,N and the Aga Khan Health Services, East Africa, to boost their Covid-19 response and support the public health system.

The offer, subject to regulatory approvals, will see the Germany based firm acquire a controlling stake of between 51 and 66 per cent in Jubilee’s General Insurance business Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Mauritius, forming Jubilee-Allianz General Insurance Limited.

JHL will retain ownership of its Life and Pensions operations and its Medical insurance business in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
