The Aga Khan Foundation and the UK government have partnered to deliver a number of agriculture, healthcare and livelihood projects in Afghanistan.

The £11.2 million grant from UK aid will support AKF’s efforts to help Afghans move beyond immediate humanitarian relief and help communities in the struggling country rebuild, the organisation said.

AN ASIAN businessman has been appointed the president of His Highness Prince Aga Khan Shia Imami Ismaili Council for the UK.

Naushad Jivraj took over the role on July 11 and will serve a three-year term.
Jivraj is the CEO of Queensway Group, a family business founded in the 1970s with interests in the real estate and franchise sectors.

The company are franchisees of the Starbucks brand in the UK with 14 stores and the KFC brand in Austria and Slovakia where they operate 10 stores.

LONDON: Britain’s former High Commissioner to Pakistan Sir Adam Thomson has said that a vibrant civil society and free media are essential in helping the government of Pakistan to deliver on the essentials that the growing Pakistani populations needs.

The former diplomat was speaking at the 65th annual dinner of The Pakistan Society at the Dorchester Hotel where His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan was the chief guest. Pakistan’s Acting High Commissioner Ayub Khan, several leading
