World’s largest picture wall conserved by WCLA, AKTC
Posted May 7th, 2019 by librarian-hdLAHORE: The conservation of the western side of the world’s largest picture wall which is located at Lahore Fort has been completed by Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) in partnership Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), Pakistan Today has learnt.
It is pertinent to mention here that the conservation work was started in January 2018 in which experts from different countries of the world worked.

Uplift of Chitral: AKDN’s contribution lauded

Speaking on a report of Senate Functional Committee, which was presented in the house after visiting the district, she said that AKDN has done wonders in an area, which was always ignored by respective governments in the past.

Goats Empowering Women in India with help of Aga Khan Foundation 2019-04-26

Can goats empower women?
In one of the poorest areas of India, they already are.
This is thanks to a new team of health workers who are training rural women how to gain financial independence by raising healthier goats.
The health workers are goat nurses known as “pashu sakhis,” which means “friends of the animals” in Hindi. Pashu sakhis are all poor women themselves who are given basic training in how to vaccinate, deworm, and provide other preventive care to goats in their community.
So, how does this help empower women?

20 Projects shortlisted for 2019 Aga Khan Award

The 20 shortlisted projects for the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture were announced today in Kazan at an exhibition on the awards. Among them were the Bahrain's Revitalisation of Muharraq, Oman's Muttrah Fish Market in Muscat and Sharjah's Wasit Wetland Centre.
The expo was inaugurated by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan. The shortlisted projects, which are located in 16 different countries, will compete for $1 million in prize money.

WCLA organises session to study Lahore Fort’s picture wall with experts from Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC)
Posted April 9th, 2019 by librarian-hdLAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) on Tuesday organised another session of ‘Meet the Expert’ during which conservationists and architects briefed participants on conservation methodologies of the picture wall of Lahore Fort that also happens to be the world’s largest picture wall, Pakistan Today has learnt.
WCLA had invited students and faculty members from all universities of Lahore which have architecture, history, fine arts and social sciences departments. Almost 200 participants were present in the session which was held here at the summer palace of Lahore Fort.

In addition to caring for her mother, Princess Yasmin, who is a half-sister of the Ismaili Muslim spiritual leader, the Aga Khan, also became an early spokesperson for those with Alzheimer’s, bringing public attention to a neurodegenerative disease that few openly discussed.

Germany promises Rs 41.5 lakh for heritage ‘baoli’ 2019-03-27
Posted March 27th, 2019 by librarian-hdNew Delhi: The Aga Khan Foundation on Tuesday partnered with the German embassy, which will provide Rs 41.5 lakh for rebuilding of a traditional ‘baoli (water stepwell) in the Humayun Tomb’s complex here.
It was announced during the signing of a memorandum of understanding by Aga Khan Trust for Culture Chief Executive Ratish Nanda and the German envoy Martin Ney in the Mughal-era Arab Ki Sarai premises.
The Arab Ki Sarai, an Archeological Survey of India (ASI) protected monument, houses an out-of-use stepwell.
