The Schools2030 project is aimed at empowering schools to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), aimed at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education thereby promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Ms Janat Namatovu, the AKF Schools2030 project coordinator, explained that the project is aimed at supporting teachers through “human centred design thinking” approach.

The Aga Khan Foundation Uganda and Triggerise, a non-profit company that developed the user-centric digital platform, TIKO, have launched a new campaign in Kampala and Arua to increase youth’s access to reproductive health services.

The purpose: empower young people with relevant information to fight unplanned teenage pregnancies.
The new campaign in the two cities is jointly bankrolled by the Aga Khan Foundation UK and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.

The Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications has said the media innovations centre, which was commissioned last Friday, is aimed at shaping the future of the media industry in the country.

In an email response on Friday, Prof Lawrence Pintak, the dean of Graduate School of Media and Communications, said the Media Challenge Initiative Media Hub is a regional project that supports innovators and explores new ideas and opportunities to support the mainstream media transition to the next phase.

The Aga Khan University (AKU) President, Mr Firoz Rasul, has revealed plans to open up a hospital in Uganda.

The hospital will provide a wide range of international standard medical services in the country.

Kasangati Orphans Fund Society (KOFS) has said continuing food donations received from the Shai Ismaili Muslim community, who are the followers of His Highness the Aga Khan, has enabled them to feed 800 orphans under their care.

Located in Kawanda, Wakiso District, the orphanage is called Kasangati because it started from there with few children but later relocated to near Kawanda following an increase in the number of orphans sheltering at the orphanage.

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the National Lottery Community UK have launched $1m (Shs3.7b) fund for building the capacity of disabled persons organisations.
Under the arrangement, AKDN will provide $500,000, while the National Lottery Community UK will provide $505,000.

The two-year programme will be implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation Uganda, Civ-Source, Independent Development Fund and the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU).

President Yoweri Museveni has said that he is ready for the ground breaking ceremony for the Aga Khan University Hospital in Kampala , Uganda.
The President was yesterday speaking at a meeting he held with the diplomatic representative of the Aga Khan Development Network and a senior executive team from the Aga Khan University Mr. Firoz Rasul at State House Entebbe.
In December 2015, President Museveni and His Highness the Aga Khan laid a brick at the Nakawa site to symbolize the foundation stone-laying for the Aga Khan University Hospital.

This comes as great news to Ugandans who have waited for the establishment of the ultra-modern hospital in Kampala as a landmark on Uganda’s healthcare system since 2015.

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education and Sports to support core areas of the ministry.

The MoU, signed on Friday at the ministry offices in Kampala, will allow AKDN to offer support in early childhood development, teacher training and development, school management, information and communication technology, curriculum and broader policy engagement.

His Highness the Aga Khan is set to receive an Honorary Citizenship of Kampala.

The New Vision has learnt that KCCA has resolved to bestow the prestigious award to the Aga Khan during a special council meeting on Monday.

The Honorary citizenship is a status bestowed by a country on a foreign individual whom it considers to be admirable or otherwise worthy of the distinction.

Asked to explain what the award means, KCCA acting director of communication, Peter Kaujju told New Vision that the details will be revealed at a later stage.

Kampala — The Speaker of Parliament, Ms Rebecca Kadaga, has praised the Aga Khan for preserving works of history and art at a time culture and heritage are being destroyed in other parts of the world.
Speaker Kadaga made the comments during a tour of the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Canada.

Kampala — The Minister of Health, Dr Jane Aceng, has described the upcoming establishment of an ultra-modern Aga Khan University Hospital in Kampala as a "landmark" on Uganda's healthcare system.

The construction process of the teaching hospital was initiated by His Highness, the Aga Khan, and President Museveni in December 2015 with an aim of offering specialised treatment to Ugandans and patients from neighbouring countries.
