Leaders and actors of peace from around the world are gathered at the historic Palais de Chaillot this week for the 7th Paris Peace Forum. This year’s theme, “Wanted: A Functioning Global Order,” focuses on the urgent need for international cooperation in an era of heightened global rivalries, instability and North-South divides.

Taking place just days after the US presidential elections and before the G20 in Rio, the discussions explore critical issues around four key themes: peace, inequality, climate and environment, and digital governance.

LAPIS BALL HELD ON THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OPENING OF THE AGA KHAN MUSEUM

Toronto, Canada

Good evening, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, friends.

As you may have guessed, it gives me a particular pleasure tonight to welcome you and to be with you for the 2024 Lapis Ball, as we celebrate the 10th year of the Museum's inauguration in Toronto on the 12th of September, 2014.

That happened to be my birthday.

But you need to know that the Museum is much younger than me.

A reception at Toronto’s City Hall brought together city councillors, civic leaders, and special guests to celebrate a decade of cultural and community-building efforts in the city.

The event marked the 10th anniversary of three institutions in the city: the Aga Khan Museum, the Ismaili Centre and the Aga Khan Park, and underscored the strong relationship between the Ismaili Imamat and the City of Toronto. Prince Amyn, who serves as Board Chair of the Aga Khan Museum, is in Toronto for events to mark the museum’s 10th anniversary.

Her Worship Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto, thanked Prince Amyn for the Ismaili Imamat and Jamat’s participation in Toronto’s ethos of diversity and inclusion: “We are so grateful,” she said, “for your incredible contributions to this city and to Canada.”

September 12, 2024 marks the 87th birthday anniversary of our beloved Prince Amyn the younger brother of our 49th Imam. Prince Amyn was born in Geneva and attended Harvard University and also joined the United Nations in 1964

…our engagement in Portugal goes back decades. The generous welcome that Portugal offered to many Ismailis fleeing the Mozambique civil war so many years ago was a defining moment. Since then our ties to Portugal have multiplied.

The Aga Khan Foundation in Portugal was established in 1983. In 1998, we opened the Ismaili Centre in Lisbon which is now one of the seven Ismaili Centres located in major cities around the world.

The Mayor of Sintra awarded the town's Municipal Merit Medal to Prince Amyn Aga Khan, in recognition of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF)'s many years of work to enhance the quality of life in the local area.

The honour was bestowed at the Town Hall during the Municipality Day celebrations hosted by Sintra City Council last week.

The Mayor of Sintra awarded the town’s Municipal Merit Medal to Prince Amyn Aga Khan, in recognition of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF)’s many years of work to enhance the quality of life in the local area.

The honour was bestowed at the Town Hall during the Municipality Day celebrations hosted by Sintra City Council last week.

“It’s an appropriate day to salute you,” said Mayor Basílio Horta in his address at the event. “The Aga Khan Foundation, for us, is a very very important partner, which serves our entire municipality, but extensively people who have special needs.”

Media reports suggest that Prince Amyn Aga Khan was awarded for promoting the embroidery of Portugal in his own capacity, not as a representative of Hazar Imam. H H the AgaKhan

The Ismaili reported “ Prince Amyn was yesterday honoured with the gold medal of Castelo Branco in recognition of his efforts to promote arts and culture in Portugal and around the world.

This prestigious award, the city's highest distinction, was unanimously approved by the Municipal Council, and presented during the 253rd-anniversary celebrations of Castelo Branco's elevation to city status.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support we have received for this project.

This includes the steadfast backing from the State of Texas, Mayor Turner, the City of Houston and its residents, including those in attendance here today.

As we share this moment today, in your eighth and final year as Mayor of Houston, I want to express to you on behalf of myself personally and on behalf of the Ismaili community, that the legacy you leave in the City of Houston and the State of Texas will be celebrated for decades to come.

2023, September 27: Prince Amyn Aga Khan met Elizabeth Dowdeswell on Wednesday. The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell is the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. As the representative of His Majesty The King, Ms. Dowdeswell carries out constitutional and ceremonial duties and facilitates healthy citizen and community engagement. In the past, The Lieutenant Governor has addressed the opening the Aga Khan Museum’s exhibition, The World of the Fatimids. Her Honour is honorary patron of the museum.

Prince Amyn Aga Khan - younger brother of our beloved Hazar Imam was born in September 12, 1937 in Geneva

Prince Amyn, Prince Rahim, and Prince Aly Muhammad joined guests to celebrate a momentous occasion — 25 years of the Centro Ismaili, Lisboa. Since opening in 1998, the building has stood tall, embodying the principles of pluralism, knowledge sharing, and dialogue.

At the event, President Marcelo surprised the audience by awarding the Portuguese Order of Merit to the Ismaili Centre, accepted by Prince Amyn. Established in 1927, the distinction is awarded by the President of the Republic to citizens or institutions for services that benefit Portuguese society.
