PTI Govt. is planning to replicate the success of the project in other provinces.
“Hunza district has been declared a plastic-free zone while on the other hand Hunza valley has become the first district in Asia to be plastic-bag free,” said Aslam. “The people of Hunza deserve congratulations for implementing the ban. I hope they will continue cooperating with the administration to keep the city clean and free of plastic bags,”

AKUH, Patients Behbud Society collaborate with pharma firm to financially support cancer patients 2020-01-23
Posted January 24th, 2020 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) and the Patients Behbud Society for the AKUH (PBS) have entered into a partnership with a pharmaceutical company to provide cancer patients with limited financial means access to targeted therapy treatment.
The partnership was announced during an official signing ceremony held at the university hospital premises in Karachi. Under this partnership, Eli Lilly Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. will support 60 per cent of the cost of Lilly’s medicine for gastric, lung & colorectal cancer of all eligible patients from the AKUH.

Pakistani healthcare simulation centre becomes South Asia’s first to receive prestigious accreditation
Posted January 21st, 2020 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan University’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education, CIME, has become South Asia’s first simulation-based educational institution to be accredited by the US-based Society for Simulation in Healthcare, SSIH.
The university’s CIME was judged to meet the highest standards in simulation-based education by the SSIH, which has accredited over 170 centres in 19 countries around the world. The accreditation means that CIME will join a global community of practice bringing the latest advances in the field to Pakistan.

Double delight for Aga Khan Academy 2020-01-19

A total of 60 teams participated in the tournament that was played on league basis. Close to 1200 boys and girls competed in the league. ISL team Hyderabad Football Club players Marcelinho, Kamaljit Singh, Adil Khan, Bobo, Matt Kilgallon and Marko Stankovic gave away the trophies to winners.

“For the first time, Mozambican master students conducted research, which resulted in the publication of their first scientific article,” the Portuguese palaeontologist Ricardo Araújo, of the University of Lisbon’s Higher Technical Institute, told Lusa.

Tanzania, partners sign 14.8 mln USD deal to improve cancer care 2019-12-17
Posted December 17th, 2019 by librarian-hdDAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) --Tanzanian government and its two partners, the Aga Khan Health Services and the French Development Agency, on Monday signed a 13.3 million Euros (about 14.8 million U.S. dollars) grant agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve cancer care in the east African nation.
The funding will be run by the Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer Project (TCCP), an innovative public-private project aimed at enhancing cancer care in Tanzania.
