The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on Imamat Day:

“Today, on Imamat Day, we join Ismaili Muslims in Canada and around the world in celebrating the 67th anniversary of the accession of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV as the 49th hereditary Imam.

The renewed agreement will continue to support the Museum’s mission to connect cultures through the arts and provide emerging artists with impactful career opportunities

Lisbon, Portugal, 22 April 2024 – His Excellency, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, High Commissioner for Canada in the United Kingdom, today presented his credentials as the Representative of Canada to the Ismaili Imamat. Prince Rahim Aga Khan received Mr Goodale’s credentials on behalf of His Highness the Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.

Princess Zahra, Board Member for the Global Centre for Pluralism, attended the Global Pluralism Award ceremony held in Ottawa on November 14.

The Global Pluralism Award recognizes pluralism in action and celebrates the inspiring and brave work that is helping to build more inclusive societies where diversity is valued and protected.

Winners were selected by a jury of international experts from a range of disciplines and backgrounds, including foreign affairs, philanthropy and human rights.

The University of Waterloo welcomed Prince Hussain Aga Khan and Princess Fareen Aga Khan to campus. Prince Hussain visited Waterloo for a special presentation of his exhibition, The Living Sea – Fragile Beauty, which focuses on the beauty and majesty of the oceans and the critical importance of ocean ecology.

An esteemed conservationist, Prince Hussain is a photographer of ocean life and promotes ecological values and consciousness. His exhibitions aim to inspire admiration for wildlife and the desire to protect it.

This spring weather calls for a walk in the garden. No garden? No problem! The University of Alberta Botanic Garden is now open for 2023 season.

The University of Waterloo community is invited to a presentation by Prince Hussain Aga Khan featuring the work of his exhibition The Living Sea - Fragile Beauty at the Humanities Theatre on Tuesday, May 23.

The Living Sea – Fragile Beauty is an exhibition featuring the work of Prince Hussain Aga Khan, which celebrates the beauty and magic of the ocean. This exhibition also speaks to the devastating impact of plastic pollution and human activity, on marine life and the environment. The exhibition will be available for viewing at the Ismaili Centre Toronto from May 24 to June 4.

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BMO today reaffirmed its commitment to supporting arts and culture in the community with new funding support to provide free admission to the Aga Khan Museum every Wednesday evening from 4–8 pm. BMO Free Wednesdays provides the community with barrier-free access to arts and culture, allowing the Museum to further expand its ability to provide a truly inclusive environment for all.

At the Park Center Ice Ground in Upper Chitral, a hockey tournament was staged for the first time ever in Pakistani history.
The girls’ teams from several academies in Upper Chitral battled against the boys’ teams during the uncommon ice hockey event.

Eight teams altogether, made up of both boys and girls, took part in the competition.

The match between the Fox and Snow Leopard teams, which the latter won by three goals, was officiated by Canadian High Commissioner Leslie Scanlon, who was present with her daughter.

Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dr Lilly Nichols has appreciated the facilities required for “inclusive learning” at the new campus of the Aga Khan Academy, reports UNB.

“When I met the new batch of Aga Khan Academy teachers, I was immediately impressed by their palpable enthusiasm to inspire a new generation of students committed to lifelong learning and global citizenship,” she said while meeting the teachers at the Academy recently.
