Shortly after his arrival in Houston yesterday, Prince Amyn met with Houston Mayor, the Honorable Sylvester Turner at City Hall. During their meeting, the Mayor bestowed Prince Amyn with an Honorary Citizenship of the City of Houston.
Prince Amyn is in Houston to review progress on the construction of the Ismaili Center, Houston — a new building incorporating spaces for social and cultural gathering, intellectual engagement, reflection, and spiritual contemplation being built by the Ismaili Community across from Buffalo Bayou Park in the heart of Houston.

Like you, dear Mayor, dear friends, I am amazed by the film that we just saw. I don’t know how it was made. My worry is that people who saw it would think that the building was already there. And when they finally see the building in a year and a bit, they will say “where have all the yellow flowers gone?” They were so pretty (laughter)

President Al-Karim Alidina of the Ismaili Council for the USA welcomed guests to the luncheon hosted in downtown Houston, and expressed the Jamat’s gratitude to Mawlana Hazar Imam for establishing the first high-profile Center in the United States.

Soon after, guests were treated to an architectural flythrough video that offered a glimpse of what the newest Center and its gardens will look and feel like. The preview situated the Center among its surroundings and illustrated the scale of the venture.

Plans announced for Houston to house America's first Ismaili Center 2021-11-16

HOUSTON — Houston is soon to be home for the first Ismaili Center in the U.S.
Plans for the center were unveiled on Monday by world-renowned architect Farshid Moussavi. It's set to be built on Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard with commissioning from His Highness the Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. Once it's complete, it'll join its counterparts in London (UK), Lisbon (Portugal), Dubai (UAE), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Vancouver and Toronto (Canada).
