The Aga Khan Council for Central United States, a social governance body of the Ismaili Muslim community, will donate 10,000 surgical masks, 10,000 pairs of gloves, and 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to the City of Dallas. Those donations will be distributed to City of Dallas first responders and front-line workers.

Dozens of volunteers took time out of their Saturday at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center in Sugar Land to help several Fort Bend County nonprofit organizations replenish food and hygiene supplies that have been needed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “Share Your Blessings” food drive was a joint effort between the Aga Khan Council of the Southwest United States, the city of Sugar Land and Fort Bend Interfaith Community. Volunteers were on hand accepting food and hygiene items to support Fort Bend ISD, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry and Richmond-Rosenberg Helping Hands.

The Aga Khan Council for the Southwest United States hosted the Fort Bend Interfaith Community for its second annual Youth Day of Service Monday, Jan. 21, at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center in Sugar Land. awlana Hazar Imam confirmed plans to build a high-profile centre in Houston on 22 March during his final Mulaqat of the USA Diamond Jubilee visit. He went on to say that the process of selecting architects is already underway with guidance from Hazar Imam’s brother Prince Amyn.
President of the Ismaili Council for the United States, Dr. Barkat Fazal, commented, “We are immensely grateful to Mawlana Hazar Imam as this Centre, representing our ethics and values, will serve as an ambassadorial building furthering community connection and dialogue.”

His Highness the Aga Khan is making a 10-day Diamond Jubilee visit to the United States, marking 60 years of his leadership.

He will be visiting Atlanta and Houston.

The Aga Khan will be received by the Secretary of the State and the Ismaili Muslim leadership upon arrival in Houston on Sunday.

During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with Governor Abbott and the Ismaili community. A significant portion of the Ismaili community from around the U.S. is coming to Houston for this occasion.

At the I-CERV 60 for 60 Day of Service, over 500 Ismaili Muslim volunteers, ages eight years and above, assembled 80,000 meals for Atlanta’s children and seniors in need.

The event was hosted by the Aga Khan Council for the Southeastern United States in collaboration with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Feeding Children Everywhere on Nov. 19 at the Ismaili Jamatkhana in Norcross.
