Regional cooperation and a commitment to pluralism are key to a country’s national development and stability, says Aga Khan

Geneva, Switzerland, 28 November 2018 – His Highness the Aga Khan, speaking at the Geneva Conference on Afghanistan, today reaffirmed his “enduring commitment to Afghanistan, and, most importantly, to its peoples”.

The Aga Khan, Mowlana Hazar Imam , was among the 70 World Leaders who attended in Paris, the ceremonies commemorating the 100 years of the Armistice that ended the World War 1 (the Great War). The Aga Khan attended the opening of the Paris Peace Forum which is scheduled from 11 to 13th November 2018.

World Monuments Fund (WMF) honored Prince Amyn Aga Khan, of the Aga Khan Development Network, and Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, historian of the city of Havana, Cuba, at the 31st annual Hadrian Gala held at the Rainbow Room in New York City on October 23.

Vancouver, Canada, October 19, 2018 – In an historic ceremony today attended by Her Honour the Honourable Lieutenant-Governor Janet Austin of British Columbia and Honourable Premier John Horgan, His Highness the Aga Khan, 49th hereditary Imam (Spiritual Leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), was conferred with honorary Doctors of Laws – the highest academic award - from both the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU).

Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Edmonton today, accompanied by Prince Aly Muhammad, to begin a visit to Canada that will include the inauguration ceremony of the Aga Khan Garden in Edmonton as well as degree conferral ceremonies in Calgary and Vancouver.

Upon his arrival, Hazar Imam was greeted by AKDN Resident Representative for Canada Dr Mahmoud Eboo, President of the Ismaili Council for Canada Malik Talib, Vice-President of the Ismaili Council for Canada Karima Karmali, President of the Ismaili Council for Edmonton Zahra Somani and President of the Aga Khan University Firoz Rasul.

Karen Armstrong delivers the 2018 Global Centre for Pluralism Annual Lecture at the Aga Khan Centre

LONDON, October 4, 2018 – Karen Armstrong, the British author, delivered the annual 2018 Global Centre for Pluralism Lecture today at the new Aga Khan Centre. The title of Ms. Armstrong’s lecture was “Compassion or Toleration? Two Approaches to Pluralism”.

France has awarded Aga Khan, Imam of the world's Shia Ismaili Muslim community, with its highest honour, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. President Emmanuel Macron awarded him the honour in recognition of his contribution to humanity and achievements in improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable populations around the world.

University’s highest honour to be conferred Oct. 17

His Highness the Aga Khan will receive an honorary degree from the University of Calgary on Oct. 17.University of Calgary Chancellor Deborah Yedlin and President and Vice-Chancellor Elizabeth Cannon are pleased to announce that His Highness the Aga Khan will be the recipient of an honorary degree at a special ceremony next month.

Tens of thousands of Ismailis from all over the world gathered in Lisbon, Portugal for a week of celebrations to commemorate a once in a lifetime event of the Diamond Jubilee of our 49th Holy Imam Mawlana Shah Karim Al-Husayni who is the 5th Imam in our history to celebrate 60 years on the throne of Imamat.

The event was situated in FIL (Feira Internacional De Lisbon) during the week starting July 5th 2018 and reaching the high mark of Holy Deedar on July 11th 2018.

Members of Noorani family also visited the exhibition sites and the performances by various Ismaili artists.

Hazar Imam today opened the Aga Khan Centre in London, England. The Prince of Wales Prince Charles also joined Hazar Imam in the opening of this historic centre which be the headquarters of various Aga Khan Institutions in the U.K.

The Aga Khan Centre in King’s Cross, designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, will have six landscaped open spaces inspired by different Muslim cultures from around the world.

There will also be four other havens of calm surrounding the ten-storey building, in what is the heart of one of London’s biggest regeneration districts.

Hazar Imam arrived in the United Kingdom of Great Britain on July 26, 2018 to start His Diamond Jubilee visit to grant Holy Deedar to Murids and inaugurate the Aga Khan Centre at King's Cross, London.

She congratulated him on his longstanding leadership of the Ismaili community and on his visit to the UK as part of his Diamond Jubilee tour.

Prince Aly Muhammad attended the World Partnership Walk in Toronto, Canada on Sunday June 17, 2018. He was also accompanied by the Mayor of Toronto John Tory and other Provincial dignitaries and the Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs. Prince Aly Muhammad made a speech in which he remembered his experiences in the Northern Areas of Pakistan where he saw first-hand the results of climate change which have created havoc for the people there.

Canada congratulates His Highness the Aga Khan, on his Diamond Jubilee. The Aga Khan will visit Canada to celebrate this anniversary.

While in Ottawa from May 1 to 4, 2018, His Highness will attend a dinner at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General. The Aga Khan will then continue his visit to Canada, travelling to other parts of the country, including Vancouver and Calgary.

His Highness the Aga Khan has arrived in Kenya at the invitation of the State.

The spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims was received by Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma and leaders from his community as well as the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

He is expected to meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.
The Aga Khan’s arrival is part of celebrations to mark his Diamond Jubilee, 60 years since his accession to his role of spiritual leadership.

The year-long celebration commenced on July 11, last year.

Dubai: Prince Karim Agha Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shia Esmaili Muslim Community, arrived in Dubai on Monday on an official visit as part of his Diamond Jubilee commemoration.

Karachi, Pakistan, December 15, 2017: The Aga Khan University’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME), a state-of-the-art facility for technology-based learning for health professionals, was inaugurated today by His Highness the Aga Khan, Chancellor of AKU.

ISLAMABAD: His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad today (December 7) for an official visit to the country on the invitation of the Government of Pakistan.

While in Pakistan, Aga Khan is expected to meet with President Mamnoon Hussain as well as Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, besides other government officials.

His Highness the Aga Khan will visit Canada in November 2017 from November 15 to 20.

On November 15th he will present the Global Centre for Pluralism's Annual Award in Ottawa to 3 winners from Colombia, kenya and Australia
