DUBAI, 13th February, 2023 (WAM) – Prince Rahim Aga Khan, Chair of the Aga Khan Development Network’s Environment and Climate Committee, delivered, today, an address touching upon urbanisation set against the backdrop of global warming, at the World Government Summit 2023 taking place in Dubai.

Speaking to an audience of distinguished guests representing government, business, academia and civil society, Prince Rahim highlighted the need for urgent action to advance progress and tackle climate change, specifically through the sustainable design of cities.

DUBAI, March 31 (Xinhua) -- French thoroughbred Vazirabad won the 3,200 meter turf race known as the Dubai Gold Cup at the Meydan hippodrome, beating 15 competitors for the third time with a track record of three minutes and 17.92 seconds here on Saturday.

Ridden by jockey Christophe Soumillon and trained by Alain De Royer-Dupre, Vazirabad won ahead of its British rivals Sheikh Zayed Road and Rare Rhythm.
Vazirabad is owned by British national His Highness Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of 25 million global members of Isma'ilism, a community with within Shia Islam.

Dubai: Climate change threatens to wipe out areas of the Islamic world within two decades, the spiritual leader of around 25 million Muslims said on Saturday.

Many of the world’s Muslims live in a “band of land” under threat from natural disasters caused by climate change, the Aga Khan told a hushed audience gathered at a Dubai hotel. “We’re beginning to see in many parts of the Muslim world … how global warming is beginning to create situations where life is at risk, where it was not at risk before.”
