Prince Rahim visits East Africa to evaluate AKDN’s response to environmental sustainability and climate change 2020-03-07

In early March, Prince Rahim, accompanied by his wife, Princess Salwa, visited Kenya and Tanzania, to better understand the plans and responses of the various institutions and agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) towards environmental sustainability and climate action.

Prince Rahim’s visit to Kenya took place in his capacity as Chair of the AKDN Environment and Climate Committee (ECC), which was recently established to develop a policy framework on priorities related to the environment and climate change for implementation by AKDN globally.

The University of Central Asia (UCA) and the University of Cambridge signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 25th 2020 to promote academic partnership, and collaborate in areas such as joint research, faculty and student exchange, as well as sharing of academic and educational material. On Thursday November 7, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Pars with His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam (Spiritual Leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

In the course of the talks, they discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Aga Khan Development Network, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Tajik leader reportedly expressed satisfaction with the level and content of real cooperation between Tajikistan and AKDN.

In December 2018, Hazar Imam had informed the International Jamats, that Prince Hussain had been engaged to Miss Elizabeth Hoag who had adopted the name of Fareen upon embracing Islam.

This wedding has brought immense joy to Hazar Imam and His family and He wished the Jamats to join in this celebration

The centrepiece of the redeveloped racecourse is the Aga Khan Stand, which can cater for up to 6,000 people over four levels, and the Aga Khan himself was on hand to take part in the celebrations.
