“El Gusto” tells the story of an old Algerian orchestra, which included both Muslim and Jewish musicians, reborn.

Like a mythical phoenix rising from its ashes, the documentary “El Gusto” tells the story of an old Algerian orchestra reborn to a new life. The film, which was first released in 2012, was screened by the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival before a warmly appreciative audience at the Ismaili Jamatkhana, an Islamic religious center in Norcross.

At the I-CERV 60 for 60 Day of Service, over 500 Ismaili Muslim volunteers, ages eight years and above, assembled 80,000 meals for Atlanta’s children and seniors in need.

The event was hosted by the Aga Khan Council for the Southeastern United States in collaboration with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Feeding Children Everywhere on Nov. 19 at the Ismaili Jamatkhana in Norcross. The 60 for 60 Day of Service honored His Highness the Aga Khan’s 60 years of spiritual leadership and service to humanity and celebrated
Thanksgiving with the less fortunate.

The National Monuments Foundation, based at the Millennium Gate Monument in Atlantic Station, recently presented its annual Middelthon-Candler Peace, Justice and Millennium Gate Prizes during a gala at the monument. Philanthropist and former Princess Khaliya Aga Khan received the Peace Prize, which honors leadership in the promotion of fraternity between peoples and nations; former first lady Rosalynn Carter won the Justice Prize, which honors leadership in effecting positive social change; and Synovus Chairman and CEO Kessel Stelling Jr.

The Aga Khan, head of the world's 15 million Ismaili Muslims, arrived at Fulton County Airport today to celebrate with his Georgia followers his 50th anniversary as their leader.

A band greeted him with the Ismaili anthem and the U.S. national anthem, and a representative from Gov. Sonny Perdue's office as well as local politicians were on hand to welcome him.

He will dine with Perdue and other guests at the Governor's Mansion Friday.
