Kabul, 21 December 2013 — Mawlana Hazar Imam visited Afghanistan today, where he met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, as well as ministers and other senior government officials. During high-level discussions on development issues with the president, Hazar Imam reiterated the commitment of the Ismaili Imamat and the Aga Khan Development Network to Afghanistan, and expressed appreciation to the Government of Afghanistan for their continued support of and partnership.

2013, December 9: Karachi, Pakistan - This year’s AKU Convocation in Karachi celebrates the 30th graduating class of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the 25th graduating class of the Medical College, and the 20th anniversary of the start of the Institute for Educational Development. In addition to the Convocation ceremony and the annual Awards Night ceremony, special events are being organized that include an alumni reunion. To mark these milestones AKU Chancellor is expected to preside at the 2013 Convocation in Karachi.

Tanzanian awarded for boosting development 2013-09-27

France has conferred its highest decoration medal to a Tanzanian Amin Kurji for his outstanding achievements and eminent services for the promotion of French culture, education and arts between France and Tanzania.

The medal was presented to him on behalf of the French President Francois Hollande by the country’s envoy to Tanzania Marcel Escure.

The award is the top French National order of the ‘Legion of Honor’ which was established way back in 1801 by French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

Aga Khan, the chairman of Aga Khan Development network, arrived here today on a 12-day India visit during which he will meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Vice President Hamid Ansari.

Khan would preside over an inauguration ceremony to mark the completion of the restoration of Humayun's Tomb Heritage site tomorrow.

The restoration work at the heritage site has been carried out by the Aga Khan Trust.

Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the 15 million Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning on a two-day visit.
Foreign minister Dipu Moni received him at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on his arrival by private a jet to a red carpet reception.

From there, he will go to the National Memorial in Savar to pay respects to the Liberation War heroes, a foreign ministry official says.

The Aga Khan is also the founder and Chairperson of the Aga Khan Development Network, one of the largest private development groups in the world.
