KABUL (BNA): Alhajj, Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, Acting Head of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Esmatullah Esmati, Legal and Communications Officer of the Aga Khan Foundation for Habitat.

According to a statement release from the National Disaster Management Authority, based on this agreement, the Aga Khan Foundation for Habitat will implement a program worth over 565,000 U.S. dollars, providing food aid to nearly 19,000 eligible families across 11 districts in Badakhshan province.

The restoration work on this historic monument is being carried out by the cultural division of the Aga Khan Foundation and is expected to be completed within the next three months.

Zabiullah Amiri, the head of Information and Culture for Badakhshan, said: "Fortunately, after a long time, our efforts have borne fruit, and the tomb of Nasir Khusraw is being restored and renovated by the Aga Khan Foundation's cultural team. Inshallah, the work will take three months to complete."

The World Bank has approved a $16 million grant aimed at bolstering micro and small enterprises in Afghanistan, with an emphasis on women and women-led businesses, the institution announced.

Funded through the Afghanistan Resilience Trust Fund (ARTF), the grant will aid the Empowering Microfinance and Enterprises for Resilience and Growth (EMRGe) initiative, with direct allocation to the Aga Khan Foundation USA.

Local sources from Badakhshan province report that 15 Ismailis from Nusay district were detained by local authorities because they were suspected of having political ties, which they have denied. These individuals are ordinary farmers and herders, sources said.

Sources who wished to remain unnamed told Khaama Press that there have been growing tensions between the Shia Ismailis and the Sunni Tajiks living nearby. This tension turned worse recently when a video went viral showing a Sunni Tajik group in Badakhshan mistreating an Ismaili man over his religious beliefs.

The Aga Khan Foundation and the UK government have partnered to deliver a number of agriculture, healthcare and livelihood projects in Afghanistan.

The £11.2 million grant from UK aid will support AKF’s efforts to help Afghans move beyond immediate humanitarian relief and help communities in the struggling country rebuild, the organisation said.

Located in the capital city of Kabul, Chihil Sutun Palace is one of the historic places built by Afghan King Shah Zaman Sadozai in 1796.

The palace served as home for many Afghan kings and emirs.

However, it was severely damaged when the civil wars erupted in the 1970s among the Mujahideen following the fall of the government of Dr. Najibullah.

In 2018, the palace was repaired by the Aga Khan Development Network in cooperation with the German government.

The palace is considered one of the historic heritage sites of Afghanistan.

Kabul [Afghanistan] November 6 (ANI): The Taliban's spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said that the top leaders of the group met with the envoy of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), Akbar Pesnani, to discuss a comprehensive development strategy for Afghanistan, Sputnik reported.

The Taliban-announced interim government's Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi met Pesnani and the latter briefed on the activities of the AKDN agencies aimed at developing the cultural, economic and social spheres in Afghanistan, said Sputnik.

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Afghanistan has launched an information platform to track threats to cultural heritage in the country.

The Aga Khan Cultural Services' list will be hosted on major social media platforms of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and will allow the group to log threats to sites of historical importance and bring them to international attention.
