Moscow, April 20, Interfax - Moscow values its dialogue with Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the current Imam of Nizari Ismaili Muslims, and expects to discuss different issues, including the problems of Afghanistan, with him, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

AGA KHAN VISITS MOSCOW - 1995-01-01

At the invitation of the Government of Russia, His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam of the Ismaili Muslims, will today begin an official visit to Moscow.
During the five-day visit, based on an invitation extended last year, the Aga Khan will meet with senior Russian leaders, including his host, Foreign Minister Andrei Kozirev. He will also meet with members of the Ismaili community in Moscow.

This is the Aga Khan's first visit to Russia.

World Bank to fund energy project in eastern Tajik regionA World Bank mission arrived in Dushanbe yesterday to study the progress of reforms in Tajikistan's energy sector, including tariffs policy.

ITAR-TASS was told at the World Bank mission's office that mission experts would visit [eastern] Mountainous Badakhshon Autonomous Region to analyse the state of affairs at the hydroelectric stations being built there.

Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev has spoken of the need to differentiate between the notions of Islam and terrorism.
He said that terrorist actions have nothing to do with the sacred religion of Islam: 'They only use Islam as a cover. These acts of terrorism contradict the spirit of sacred Islam, since it is based on humanism,' Akayev said during a meeting with Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. He linked this with the work of the Aga Khan Foundation, which demonstrates the principles of good and peace.

Mowlana Hazar Imam visited Moscow as guest of the Russian Government and met with Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin. Held meetings with officials at the highest levels of federal and local governments. Visited both houses of the Russian Parliament, the Federation Council and the State Duma , and from the City Hall to the Kremlin. Hazar Imam also met with senior diplomats, religious leaders, academicians and representatives of the Russian and international Press.
