Nowruz by Aga Khan Master Musicians has attained the highest position of the World Music Charts Europe for the month of February 2024.

The Aga Khan Master Musicians, formed in 2013 by the Aga Khan Music Programme, combine diverse musical traditions into a unique sound. Their debut album, Nowruz, released in October 2023, symbolizes renewal and celebrates their eclectic backgrounds. The group’s creative process is democratic, with each member contributing compositions, resulting in a fusion of folk, jazz, and classical influences.

Muscat – The 2022 Aga Khan Music Awards concluded on Sunday evening with the presentation of awards to 15 laureates by H H Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said and Prince Amyn Aga Khan during a gala concert at the House of Musical Arts, Royal Opera House Muscat.

The awards presentation marked the culmination of a spirited two-day celebration in which laureates performed live or were presented in short films. A special Award for Lifetime Achievement was presented to acclaimed tabla player Ustad Zakir Hussain during the Music Awards’ opening night concert on Saturday.

Muscat: Over the course of three days, the Sultanate of Oman will celebrate the winners of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and Music at a ceremony honouring the winners on October 31, 30 and 29, in the presence of a distinguished elite of participants, winners, senior invitees and artistic cultural figures.

The Master Jury of the Aga Khan Music Awards has announced laureates and finalists for the Awards’ inaugural cycle.

The Aga Khan Music Awards recognise outstanding creativity, promising talent and initiative in the fields of performance, creation, education, preservation and musical revitalisation in societies where Muslims have a significant presence. I am here to speak briefly about Central Asia. I wanted to share with you some of the reasons why the theme of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival this year is so important. As you know, Central Asia has been an area of considerable concern and instability for the world. Over the past decade, Central Asian countries have come into existence in difficult circumstances. Frontiers have been changed, ethnic groups have been divided, old traditions have been modified by the Soviet presence, and all this has caused considerable difficulty in looking ahead in that part of the world.
