The Aga Khan is a friend of the Shah of Iran. Many of His followers live there. I asked Him in Ottawa yesterday what someone in his situation might do when a country such as Iran is thrown into the turmoil and crisis.

Ignite–National Technology Fund of MOITT & Aga Khan Rural Support Programme signed an MOU in Karachi today to promote entrepreneurship across Pakistan through tailored business support services in the shape of financial/ technical assistance to start-ups,small/growing businesses.

Posted October 11th, 2020 by librarian-hdLONDON: The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is partnering with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, to launch the Earthshot Prize, which aims to incentivise environmental change while helping repair the planet over the next 10 years.
According to a press release, the prize also aims to find new solutions to environmental crises and the improvement of living standards, particularly for communities that are most at risk from climate change.
The Aga Khan Development Network is a Global Alliance Founding Partner.

$4.2m GB project envisages massive tree plantation

GILGIT: The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan (AKAH-P) and the government of Gilgit-Baltistan have announced a US dollar 4.2 million project to plant 50 million trees across the region to reduce the climate-induced natural disasters.
The announcement was made at a function here on Friday.
The project will use tree plantation to absorb carbon and stabilise soil and slopes in hazard-prone areas, mitigating climate change and disaster risk, according to a press release issued here on Friday.

Ismaili CIVIC hosts collection drive for local shelters 2020-10-04
Posted October 6th, 2020 by librarian-hdThis year Ismaili CIVIC Day was observed on Sunday, September 27, 2020, in Ontario. More than three hundred volunteers gathered to run a collection drive for supplies for local women’s and youth shelters. Over 7,500 items were collected, ranging from toiletries, non-perishable food items, bedding and much more. In a bid to ensure safety given the current global pandemic, volunteers ran a drive-thru drop-off of supplies over two hours across thirteen locations in the region. The items collected were then delivered to local shelters.

These are only a few statistics about the recent Golden Climate International Environmental Project Olympiad, held in Nairobi from Tuesday 29th April to Friday 2nd May.
The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, an education centre that promotes holistic learning and international leadership participated in the fourth annual edition of the Golden Climate Science Competition, held by the Light Academy Schools in Nairobi.

The offer, subject to regulatory approvals, will see the Germany based firm acquire a controlling stake of between 51 and 66 per cent in Jubilee’s General Insurance business Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Mauritius, forming Jubilee-Allianz General Insurance Limited.
JHL will retain ownership of its Life and Pensions operations and its Medical insurance business in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
