Gilgit, Pakistan, 30 April 2021 - Prime Minister Imran Khan today unveiled the plaque at a ceremony in Chinarbagh, Gilgit to lay the foundation of Hunza’s first Information Technology Park located in Nasirabad, Hunza. Established jointly by Special Communications Organization of the Government of Pakistan and the Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan, the IT Park in Hunza will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure with un-interrupted power supply, high-speed internet facility and a co-working space for small and growing businesses, start-ups, freelancers, and chamber of commerce.

Gilgit, Pakistan, 11 June 2020 – In Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral in Northern Pakistan, the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) and the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS), with support from Better Shelter, are setting up six Covid-19 Rapid Response Centres using prefabricated materials and modular designs. Four of the centres will use shelter units donated by Better Shelter.

Despite Indian claims of having isolated Pakistan, Islamabad continues to receive regular visits by high dignitaries, belying the hollow Indian brag.

Each visit is like a whiff of fresh air, since it addresses different issues and brings laurels for Pakistan. The Royal visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Pakistan in October 2019 raised focus on climate change but equally importantly, it showcased that local communities have tremendous potential to plan and manage their own development, once they are organized and provided access to necessary skills and capital.

President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi praised Prince Aga Khan IV for promoting tourism in Gilgit Baltistan (GB). Aga Khan is a title held by the Imam of the Nizari Isma’ili Shias. Since 1957, the holder of the title has been the 49th Imam, Prince Shah Karim al-Husseini, Aga Khan, a business magnate with British citizenship, as well as a racehorse owner and breeder, after succeeding his grandfather.

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday said the government was keen to exploit the economic potential of Gilgit-Baltistan particularly its energy and natural resources for the prosperity of people.

Talking to Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President said the government would continue to work with the Aga Khan Foundation for poverty alleviation and other social welfare and economic activities.
