Posted June 26th, 2021 by librarian-hdISLAMABAD: The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, the Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan, World Habitat Awards and the United Nations Habitat Programme, co-organized an international virtual seminar on Ecosystem Restoration for Quality of Life.
The seminar was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change, the United Nations, INGOs, Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) agencies and partners, donor agencies, academia, media and community organizations. The virtual seminar, held Tuesday, was part of a series of official events celebrating World Environment Day (WED).

MoU signed with AKRSP to mitigate effects of climate change 2021-06-13
Posted June 13th, 2021 by librarian-hdISLAMABAD: The World Wide Fund for Nature - Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan), Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) and Serena Hotels on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim to work towards their common objectives of climate change mitigation and climate adaptation, land degradation, food security, biodiversity conservation and enhancing community resilience.
The agreement was signed in view of Pakistan’s needs and to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Pakistan (AKAH) project wins award for shielding villages from natural disasters 2020-12-06
Posted December 8th, 2020 by librarian-hdA project that combines satellite images, mapping technologies and the local knowledge of villagers to help build climate-proof settlements in disaster-prone areas of Pakistan won an international award last week.
More than one million people have benefited from the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) Pakistan project, which was a gold prize winner at the World Habitat Awards that are organised with the United Nations housing agency, UN-Habitat.

The Clarion Call
Posted December 3rd, 2020 by librarian-hdPrince Hussain Aga Khan held a beautiful speech on the main stage during EAT Stockholm Food Forum 2019 to bring awareness to the endangered species living in our oceans. Since the age of five, he has been a fan of the ocean and everything connected to it.
At 14, Prince Hussain Aga Khan started scuba diving, and by exploring the deep wide blue he developed a keen interest in conservation. He started traveling to the tropics frequently at secondary school and began taking photographs of fauna and flora on a trip to the Brazilian Amazon in 1996.

AKDN, Prince William to launch environmental prize
Posted October 11th, 2020 by librarian-hdLONDON: The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is partnering with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, to launch the Earthshot Prize, which aims to incentivise environmental change while helping repair the planet over the next 10 years.
According to a press release, the prize also aims to find new solutions to environmental crises and the improvement of living standards, particularly for communities that are most at risk from climate change.
The Aga Khan Development Network is a Global Alliance Founding Partner.

$4.2m GB project envisages massive tree plantation

GILGIT: The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan (AKAH-P) and the government of Gilgit-Baltistan have announced a US dollar 4.2 million project to plant 50 million trees across the region to reduce the climate-induced natural disasters.
The announcement was made at a function here on Friday.
The project will use tree plantation to absorb carbon and stabilise soil and slopes in hazard-prone areas, mitigating climate change and disaster risk, according to a press release issued here on Friday.
