Foundation stone laid for Tanzanian cancer care centre, 1.7m to benefit 2022-04-10
Posted April 13th, 2022 by librarian-hdDar es Salaam, Tanzania, 10 April 2022 – The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam laid the foundation stone for its state-of-the-art cancer care centre, which will serve as a key hub for the innovative Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer Project (TCCP). The Project, launched by the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) in January 2020, has the goal of reducing cancer morbidity and mortality in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza.

Bugando receives gear from Aga Khan, AFD 2022-03-14
Posted March 15th, 2022 by librarian-hdMwanza. The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD) last week handed over a breast cancer screening machine worth Sh800 million to Bugando Medical Centre (BMC).
The machine was procured under a four-year Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer project which is under the two development agencies, according to the project manager, Dr Harrison Chuwa.
The inauguration of the machine was held at Bugando hospital in Mwanza Region where over 20 people would be diagnosed.

Aga Khan Hospitals Get Sh290mn Grant From PROPARCO To Boost Healthcare Access 2022-02-15
Posted February 16th, 2022 by librarian-hdNAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 16 – The Aga Khan hospitals in East Africa have received a Sh290 million grant from Proparco, the private sector financing arm of AFD Group, the French Development Agency to increase access to health care services by boosting oxygen supply and supporting needy patients with quality care.
The grant will benefit the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi and the Aga Khan Hospitals in Mombasa, Kisumu and Dar-es-Salaam including ninety-four outreach and medical centres of the Aga Khan Health Services in Kenya and Tanzania.

Aga Khan, Muhimbili hospitals conduct free reconstructive surgeries on 24 women 2021-12-03
Posted December 4th, 2021 by librarian-hdDar es Salaam. The Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam in collaboration with the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), has performed free reconstructive surgery to 24 women and girls with deformities that resulted from violence, burns and accidents.
Apart from the two hospitals, the surgeries were also carried out in collaboration with Reconstructing Women International (RWI).
The surgeries were done during the sixth camp at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam which was launched from on November 29 and set to be completed on December 4, 2021.

Aga Khan Hospital accredited as a centre of excellence in acute stroke management 2021-06-04
Posted June 8th, 2021 by librarian-hdNAIROBI, Kenya June 4 – Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH,N) has been accredited as a Centre of Excellence for the management of Acute Primary Stroke, becoming the first hospital in Africa to achieve this certification.
The accreditation was granted by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the recognized global leader in health quality standards, following a rigorous Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC) audit conducted in May 2021.

50-bed Aga Khan Medical Centre opened in Gilgit 2016-05-26
Posted June 29th, 2020 by librarian-hdKARACHI: Princess Zahra Aga Khan and Prince Rahim Aga Khan inaugurated a 50-bed medical centre in Gilgit on Tuesday.
According to a media release, the Aga Khan Medical Centre was established to provide health care in large underserved areas and to complement the government’s efforts to attain the sustainable development goals in health.
The facility — the Gilgit Centre — would provide high quality diagnostic and secondary health care and connect the Gilgit hub through a digital health network to clinics in Singal, Gupis, Aliabad, Soust, Booni and Garamchashma, it added.

The Minister of Health, Madame Marta Temido, government officials, diplomats, and leaders of the Aga Khan Development Network and the Ismaili Imamat were also in attendance.
