Honourable Ministers, Your Excellencies, My Lord Chief Justice, Distinguished Guests.

Mowlana Shah Karim and Begum Salimah arrive in Ottawa, received by Chief Protocol Officer Mr. L.H. Amyot, the Honorary Secrectary of the Admin. Committee for Ottawa Mr Azeem Motani and his wife Noorjehan. They came as guests of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. To commemorate the occasion, the My Flag was flown over Rideau Gate, the hotel where Hazar Imam and the Begum stayed

(During Hazar Imam's Silver Jubilee visit to the Canadian Jamats, a banquet was held in His honour in Vancouver. A plaque was presented to Hazar Imam by the Deputy Premier which "symbolized the love and support and the appreciation of the citizens of British Columbia." The Mayor of Vancouver in his welcome address also announced that this day had been declared "Ismaili Day")

Your Excellency,

I am delighted that this evening's most enjoyable dinner gives me the opportunity of thanking you publicly for the welcome which your Government, and in particular the Prime Minister and the officials concerned, have given us. My wife, my brother and I are all deeply touched by the warmth of our reception on this Silver Jubilee visit and are sincerely appreciative of the courtesies extended to us.
