It is a tremendous pleasure for myself and my fellow trustees to be in Karachi this evening surrounded by so many dedicated and loyal friends of the University.

The result of this exemplary and varied group reminds us there is no blueprint for pluralism. Rather pluralism is an idea that expresses itself in a multitude of locally rooted ways.

Your Excellencies, distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you on behalf of His Highness the Aga Khan and the entire Board of the Global Centre for Pluralism to the 2023 Global Pluralism Award.

The Global Pluralism Award recognizes pluralism in action. Presented every other year to individuals, organisations, governments and businesses from around the world, the Award celebrates the inspiring and brave work that is helping to build more inclusive societies where diversity is valued and protected.

The Global Pluralism Award recognizes pluralism in action and celebrates the inspiring and brave work that is helping to build more inclusive societies where diversity is valued and protected.

Winners were selected by a jury of international experts from a range of disciplines and backgrounds, including foreign affairs, philanthropy and human rights.

The presidents of the Aga Khan University and the University of Michigan will meet on Monday in Ann Arbor, Michigan to kickstart a new phase in the partnership between their institutions, which has already attracted more than $7 million from the US National Institutes of Health for research in predictive health and other fields in East Africa.

The Topping Out Ceremony of the Ismaili Center in Houston was held on October 23, 2023 attended by Mayor Sylvester Turner and Prince Amy Aga Khan and other dignitaries

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support we have received for this project.

This includes the steadfast backing from the State of Texas, Mayor Turner, the City of Houston and its residents, including those in attendance here today.

As we share this moment today, in your eighth and final year as Mayor of Houston, I want to express to you on behalf of myself personally and on behalf of the Ismaili community, that the legacy you leave in the City of Houston and the State of Texas will be celebrated for decades to come.

The Ismaili Center Houston achieved a significant milestone today with a special ‘topping out’ ceremony attended by Prince Amyn and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

To acknowledge his support in the planning and construction of the first Ismaili Center in the US, the event included a luncheon in honor of Mayor Turner, at which elected officials, civil society leaders, and friends and partners of the Jamat were present.

Aga Khan Development Network, which employs over 90,000 people and has over 200,000 volunteers across the globe, runs hospitals, schools, and early childhood centres

Community and humanitarian works carried out by the Ismaili community were highlighted at a high-profile gathering which saw the attendance of many diplomats and senior community members at the Ismaili Centre in Dubai on Thursday.

The University of Michigan welcomed Princess Zahra Aga Khan and representatives from Aga Khan University‘s campuses in Pakistan and Kenya on Oct. 30.

Senior leadership from both universities formally signed a memorandum of understanding, powered by a $900,000 gift from AKU to U-M to expand ongoing collaborative efforts.

The Diwan at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden, a year-round pavilion and event space, has won two international awards for its design.

The Diwan has been awarded a 2023 International Architecture Award in the category of Exposition Centres, and a gold certification in the category of Public Building / Cultural Building from Grand Prix Du Design.

The Aga Khan University commemorated the 2023 World Environment Day, featuring the screening of documentary, “Oceans: The Mystery of the Missing Plastic” followed by a panel discussion at the AKU auditorium.

Roche Diagnostics and the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi have signed a contract aimed at enhancing healthcare access in Kenya and East Africa by installing a fully automated diagnostics instrument at the Hospital

The installation will significantly speed up disease testing capacity and the output of results to patients

The Roche platforms can provide over 800 test results for multiple diseases within one hour, ensuring better access to high-quality diagnostics for patients across the region.

We must seek to develop between Ismaili women and men, fellowship and teamwork, shared learning, understanding, support and above all shared goals. These things could come about through our efforts to develop an ongoing communications system, and with the aid of international dialogue among leaders, Women's Portfolios, and the Jamat at large.
