KARACHI: Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has extended warm welcome to H. H. Prince Shah Karim Al Husseini Aga Khan IV on his visit to Pakistan.

It is part of a series of visits that coincides with the commemoration of his Diamond Jubilee, beginning earlier this year on July 11.

The PPP chairman appreciated the contributions of Aga Khan Foundation’s in the development of health, education and welfare sectors, which have left positive and progressive impact in the respective fields.

ISLAMABAD: His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad today (December 7) for an official visit to the country on the invitation of the Government of Pakistan.

While in Pakistan, Aga Khan is expected to meet with President Mamnoon Hussain as well as Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, besides other government officials.

CHITRAL: Preparations are in full swing here for receiving Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th Imam of Ismaili Muslim community, who is scheduled to arrive in the second week of December in connection with the golden jubilee celebrations of his Imamat.

A source in the Ismaili regional council of Chitral, requesting not to be named, told this scribe that the followers of Ismaili sect would have a sight of their spiritual leader in Booni and Garam Chashma, for which two Didaar Gaahs (place of sighting) were near completion.

Prince Shah Karim al-Hussaini the spiritual leader of the world's 20 plus million Ismailis, is scheduled to visit Pakistan next week.

According to an internal communique, the Aga Khan IV will reach Pakistan on the 7th of December. An invitation for visiting Pakistan was extended to the Aga Khan by President Mamnoon Hussain early this year.

High Highness Sir Sultan Muhammed Shah, Aga Khan III GCSI GCMG GCIE GCVO PC was the 48th Imam of Ismaili Shia Muslims. He was the first President of the All-India Muslim League. He was born in Karachi on 2 November 1877, but passed away in Versoix, Switzerland on 11 July 1957. After Sir Syed Khan, he played a leading role not only in strengthening the political role of the Muslims of the Indo-Pak subcontinent, the cause of Aligarh Muslim University but the Pakistan Movement also.

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said the constant efforts of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) through its multiple projects in the country were making a visible difference in the lives of the people and Pakistan’s infrastructural development.

The president expressed these views while talking to Aga Khan Council for Pakistan President Hafiz Sherali, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to handover a letter from Prince Karim Aga Khan in response to the president’s letter of felicitation on the diamond jubilee of the Aga Khan’s Imamat.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: Pakistan on Thursday handed over its second largest bank - Habib Bank Limited (HBL) - to Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) against a two-phased Rs22.409 billion highest bid for 51 per cent shares along with management control received in December last year.

Secretary Privatization Ahmed Waqar and Sultan Allana signed the transfer of management agreement on behalf of the Privatization Commission and AKFED respectively. Finance Minister, Shaukat Aziz and Privatization Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh witnessed the signing ceremony.

Gilgit, July 11: The role of His Highness the Aga Khan in development of Gilgit – Baltistan is remarkable and others should follow it. Sir Aga Khan III played a leading role in the movement for creation of Pakistan as President of the All India Muslim League.

These views were expressed by GB Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah while addressing a ceremony organized to commemorate the 55th Imamat Day of His Highness the Aga Khan.
