Posted December 29th, 2018 by librarian-hdOn lst October 1960, His Royal Highness laid the foundation stone of the Reading Room building of Prince Aga Khan Students' Union, Kharadhar, Karachi. This institution which was established in 1932, is doing very useful work by providing fees and books to deserving students. The honorary workers of the Union, with great efforts and in details, carried out an educational survey of their area in order to determine the needs and requirements of Ismaili Students. They have also underway a scheme to start a mass educational centre.

According to AKU officials the facility to be functional in an enlarged space will help students to learn about the human body structure, and enable residents, practicing physicians along with surgeons to rehearse difficult and complicated surgical procedures before performing them on real patients.

During their visit, Prince Rahim and Princess Salwa examined approaches to poverty alleviation and development, and visited a number of AKDN institutions and projects aimed at improving quality of life.

He said this in a meeting with President of the Aga Khan Council for Pakistan Hafiz Sherali who called on him to deliver a letter from Prince Karim Aga Khan.

Govt likely to hand over new schools to Aga Khan Board 2018-07-06
Posted September 7th, 2018 by librarian-hdKARACHI: With its failure to properly run the newly established 50 English medium schools with Cambridge International Examination (CIE) system in the province, the Sindh government is likely to handover these schools to the Aga Khan Board to ensure quality education to the students, it was learnt on Thursday.
In this regard, an initial consultation has been made while the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sindh government and Aga Khan Board will be signed very soon after which the control of these CIE schools is to be given to Aga Khan Board, sources told Pakistan Today.

The MoU was signed by Firoz Rasul, the AKU president and Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed, OPEN (Karachi Chapter) president, who is also director of the PharmEvo's Digital Health and Strategic Projects.

Wazir Khan Hammam — a 17th century wonder 2018-03-22
Posted March 22nd, 2018 by librarian-hdThe famous Queen Noor Jahan, wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, was suffering from an untreatable disease and all the local herbal doctors (Hakeem) and physicians had failed to cure her. That was the time when one of the courtiers told the emperor about a Hakeem of Chiniot Ilm Ud Ansari, and thus he was called to Lahore to cure the Queen’s disease which was distressing the emperor. So the Hakeem made his entry into the Royal Kingdom of the Mughals. Hakeem Ilm Ud Din Ansari figured out the cause of disease and cured it by making the Queen walk on burning sand.
