AKU launches special graduate programme for govt health officials 2015-04-14

For the first time in Pakistan, officials of the provincial government working on the district and provincial levels will be able to enrol in a graduate program on health policy and management as part of an initiative to build capacity to ensure better delivery of services.
For this the Sindh government on Monday signed an agreement with the Aga Khan University and John Snow Inc, as part of the strengthening health systems component of the USAID’s maternal and child health program.

50-bed Aga Khan Medical Centre opened in Gilgit 2016-05-26
Posted June 29th, 2020 by librarian-hdKARACHI: Princess Zahra Aga Khan and Prince Rahim Aga Khan inaugurated a 50-bed medical centre in Gilgit on Tuesday.
According to a media release, the Aga Khan Medical Centre was established to provide health care in large underserved areas and to complement the government’s efforts to attain the sustainable development goals in health.
The facility — the Gilgit Centre — would provide high quality diagnostic and secondary health care and connect the Gilgit hub through a digital health network to clinics in Singal, Gupis, Aliabad, Soust, Booni and Garamchashma, it added.

Four of the centres will use shelter units donated by Better Shelter.

AKU among seven global institutes collaborating on new pandemic study 2020-06-04
Posted June 4th, 2020 by librarian-hdA new grant to spur vital global research into infectious diseases and pandemics has been awarded to the University of Washington (UW) and its partners, including the Aga Khan University, by the US National Institutes of Health’s Centres for Research in Emerging Infectious Diseases.
The $8.75 million grant spread over five years will help support UW and collaborators at Rockefeller University in New York City and institutions in Brazil, Pakistan, Senegal, South Africa and Taiwan to develop the United World for Antiviral Research Network.

Chitral to get Covid-19 testing facility from The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan
Posted May 24th, 2020 by librarian-hdCHITRAL: The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, (AKHSP), has planned to set up a testing facility of Covid-19 in Chitral and has started the process of importing the machine and allied equipment.
AKHSP regional head Mirajuddin said this while speaking at a ceremony arranged at the inauguration of 28-bedded Covid-19 Response Centre in Booni, Upper Chitral.
He said that establishing a testing facility had become essential in Chitral as sending a swab sample of a suspected patient to Peshawar entailed heavy expenses.

This humanitarian aid was transferred as part of the project “Emergency support to the livestock sector in Naryn and At-Bashy districts of Naryn region” supported by the Government of Switzerland and the Aga Khan Foundation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Aga Khan Hospital to offer free COVID-19 tests for inpatients 2020-05-
