Ismaili Leaders in Kenya welcome Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah for the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Imamat

The All-Africa celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee of His Highness the Rt-Honorable Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah The Aga Khan held at Dar-es-Salaam 10th August, 1946

Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with a weighing ceremony at Karachi, Pakistan on 2nd February 1954

Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah accompanied by Begum Princess Teresa Aga Khan (mother of Prince Aly Khan) arrived in Bombay aboard the S.S. Cathay on 10th January, 1936. This visit was in the Golden Jubilee year of the Imamat of our 48th Holy Imam

The Ismailis, followers of Mowlana Hazar Imam H.H. The Aga Khan residing in India, Burma and Ceylon as well as in Persian Gulf, Muscat and Central Asia celebrated the joint birthdays of His Highness, H.S.H. Prince Aly Khan and beloved Prince Sadruddin with great rejoicings and festivities on the 9th March 1940.

Maulana Sultan Muhammad Shah visited the Ismailia Cheap Grain Stores in Poona on 15th December 1945. The owner was Mr. Yakubali Sulaiman. This store was a boon to the Ismailis of Poona

The Golden Jubilee of the assumption of the gadi of Imamat by Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah was celebrated in Nairobi in March 1, 1937 when Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah was weighed against gold valued at British pounds 23,000 for the second time. Here is a colour plate of that historic scene which attracted over 18,000 people from different countries. Mr. A.C. Wade, the Governor of Kenya (seen in blue suit) performed the weighing ceremony

There are many dimensions to Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah, Aga Khan III’s demeanour in his public life. Born on the 2ndof November, 1877, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah became the 48th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims at the tender age of eight years old. From that time, he was actively involved in social endeavours in education, healthcare, politics and international development. On the occasion of his 143rd birth anniversary, his achievements for progress prove unparalleled.

November 2nd 2020 marks the 143rd anniversary of our 48th Holy Imam Shah Sultan Muhammad Shah who was born at a place known as Muhammadi Tekri (also known as Honeymoon Lodge) in Karachi

The Aga Khan III married, on 7 December 1929 (civil), in Aix-les-Bains, France, and 13 December 1929 (religious), in Bombay, India, Andrée Joséphine Carron (1898–1976). A co-owner of a dressmaking shop in Paris, she became known as Princess Andrée Aga Khan. By this marriage, he had one son, Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, (1933–2003). The couple were divorced in 1943
