Dear President and Leaders of the Jamat

I would like to begin these short comments by sharing with you My sense of immense happiness on this Golden Jubilee visit to Syria.
It has brought to Me very, very great happiness because I can remember 1957 very well. I can remember 1958, 1959, 1960.- years in which Syria and the Jamat in Syria had very great problems ahead of them. And I compare where we are today and I say to myself “Alhamdullilah” we have made real progress.

TODAY IN HISTORY - 1936, January 10 Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah arrives in Bombay with Princess Andrée Aga Khan. Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah accompanied by Begum Princess Andrée Aga Khan (mother of Prince Sadruddin) arrived in Bombay aboard the S.S. Cathay on 10th January, 1936. This visit was in the Golden Jubilee year of the Imamat of our 48th Holy Imam

The Golden Jubilee of the assumption of the gadi of Imamat by Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah was celebrated in Nairobi in March 1, 1937 when Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah was weighed against gold valued at British pounds 23,000 for the second time. Here is a colour plate of that historic scene which attracted over 18,000 people from different countries. Mr. A.C. Wade, the Governor of Kenya (seen in blue suit) performed the weighing ceremony
