Dar es Salaam. Some 3.4 million people in Dar es Salaam have been vaccinated against Covid-19, according to regional commissioner Amos Makalla.

He made the revelation yesterday during a voluntary walk organised by (AKHST) in collaboration with the European Union (EU) and Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) with the aim of promoting public awareness of Covid-19 vaccination.

He said the number is above the target, which was set at 3.3 million people.

Dar es Salaam. The Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam in collaboration with the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), has performed free reconstructive surgery to 24 women and girls with deformities that resulted from violence, burns and accidents.

Apart from the two hospitals, the surgeries were also carried out in collaboration with Reconstructing Women International (RWI).
The surgeries were done during the sixth camp at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam which was launched from on November 29 and set to be completed on December 4, 2021.

Dar es Salaam — The Aga Khan School of Nursing and Midwifery has initiated a training programme--Respectful Maternity Care--with a view to providing skills to nurses, midwives and clinical officers in public hospitals, dispensaries and health centres.

The programme was launched yesterday with more than 50 trainees including nurses, midwives and clinical officers from Ilala and Temeke district councils in Dar es Salaam city.

Dar es Salaam — The government has commended the Aga Khan Development Network for its contribution to the economic development of the country.

Deputy minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Susan Kolimba said the network has invested heavily in education, healthcare, culture, infrastructure and tourism.

She said this on Monday evening during the commemoration of the 59th anniversary of the Ascension to the Ismaili Imamat of His Highness the Aga Khan as the 49th hereditary spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili.
