Prince Rahim met with United Nations Secretary General Mr António Guterres at the UN’s Headquarters in New York

Prince Rahim conveyed special greetings from Mawlana Hazar Imam, which the Secretary General warmly reciprocated.

During the meeting, Mr Guterres and Prince Rahim spoke about the longstanding partnership between the Aga Khan Development Network and the United Nations, and discussed ways in which to enhance collaboration between the agencies of the two institutions to improve the quality of life of marginalised communities in particular, in Asia and Africa.

Mawlana Hazar Imam met with His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, in Lisbon on 4 February 2022.

During their meeting, Hazar Imam and President Marcelo spoke about several matters of mutual interest, including the presence and activities of the Ismaili Imamat and the Aga Khan Development Network in Portugal, Portuguese-speaking countries, and around the world.

Mawlana Hazar Imam was joined at the meeting by Princess Zahra and her daughter Miss Sara Boyden.

Lisbon, Portugal, 25 December 2021 - Prince Rahim met with His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, at the Presidential Palace.

At the meeting, Prince Rahim conveyed to the President and the people of Portugal Season’s Greetings and best wishes for the new year. The President and Prince Rahim acknowledged the strong relationship between the Ismaili Imamat and Portugal and spoke about the presence and activities of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Portugal, Portuguese-speaking countries, and globally.

New Delhi, December 2

In double joy for India, a project on holistic urban revitalisation of the historic Nizamuddin Basti community in Delhi, has brought laurels for the country in two categories in this year's UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

The project has won the prestigious Award of Excellence, and another award in the Special Recognition for Sustainable Development category, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) said.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you today to the Aga Khan Museum’s Annual Lapis Digital Benefit. When we held this event last year, we could not have known that this year too, we would have to celebrate remotely, once again.

However, celebrate we will.

Despite all the many challenges of the past year, the Museum has achieved so much. I believe in fostering intercultural understanding and dialogue and all of that of course with the generous support of so many.

Birthday of Prince Amyn Muhammad

Our beloved Prince Amyn Muhammad was born in Geneva, Switzerland on September 9th 1937.

Like his elder brother, he attended the Institut Le Rosey and Harvard College. He graduated from Harvard in 1960 with an A.B. magna cum laude in literature and economics. He further pursued graduate studies in comparative literature at Harvard, receiving an A.M. in comparative literature in 1963 whilst also studying at the New England Conservatory.[2] During his studies he was additionally engaged as a graduate instructor in French.

The first-ever global convocation ceremony of the Aga Khan University (AKU) was live-streamed to a worldwide audience on Saturday, as 667 students in three continents received their degrees and listened to speeches by the Aga Khan, Chief Guest Melinda French Gates and AKU President Firoz Rasul.

The Convocation was attended also by Prince Amyn, Princess Zahra, Prince Rahim, Prince Hussain and Prince Aly Muhammad

The 2021 AKU Global Convocation Ceremony was held across 13 time zones world-wide virtually. It was attended by Hazar Imam who delivered the Chancellor's address. Melinda French Gates delivered her address as the Chief Guest. Firoz Rassul in his opening address mentioned the various partners such as Johnson & Johnson, Harvard University and many other prominent organizations who had worked with the AKU over the many years.

As in many paradise gardens, particularly those inspired by Islamic culture, a fountain lies at the heart of the quadrilateral garden created inside the Aga Khan Centre gallery in King’s Cross, London. This fountain doesn’t spout water, however, but beautiful, intricate strips of paper with laser-cut flowers made by Berlin-based American artist Clare Celeste Börsch.

Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan

Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, he was the only child of Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan III and his French-born third wife, the former Andrée Joséphine Carron. He received his early education in Lausanne, Switzerland, before graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1954 from Harvard College.[1] At Harvard, he lived in Eliot House with Paul Matisse, grandson of French artist Henri Matisse, with future Paris Review founders George Plimpton and John Train, and with Stephen Joyce, grandson of Irish writer James Joyce.[2] Along with Plimpton, he was an editor for the Harvard Lampoon.

IN MEMORY: 1997, April 25: Princess Tajudaullah, mother of Mowlana Shah Karim and Prince Amyn and wife of Prince Ay Khan, passed away. It was a sad event and we felt we should do a Gallery in her honour. You can access it in the link bellow:

Princess Tajudaulah (JOAN VISCOUNTESS CAMROSE) married Prince Aly Khan on May 18, 1936 in Paris in the presence of Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah, Princess Andree and Lady Aly Shah. She was born Joan Barbara Yarde-Buller on April 22 1908

Qutub Shahi Tombs: 60 pc renovation work completed, a unique heritage park on card 2021-04-16

Hyderabad: The 16th Century Qutub Shahi Tombs are one of the main tourist attraction in the city. A heritage park is being added as a new chapter to this attraction.

The unique heritage park is likely to come up on 106 acres of land with the joint efforts of Aga Khan Foundation, Heritage Telangana and Aga Khan Trust for Culture.

A project is underway to preserve and restore 40 tombs, three mosques, seven wells, and other buildings. The first phase of this grand program of repair and renovation has been completed in 2018 and now the last phase of this program is underway.
