Aga Khan University becomes first academic entity in Africa to gain ACGME-I accreditation

Aga Khan University has become the first in Africa and South Asia to be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I).

The university’s departments that were accredited are the Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) in Nairobi and Karachi.

“The sponsoring institution applications from Aga Khan University in Karachi and Nairobi were awarded initial accreditation in a peer driven review process,” said ACGME-I Executive Director Lorraine Lewis.

The Golden Jubilee of the assumption of the gadi of Imamat by Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah was celebrated in Nairobi in March 1, 1937 when Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah was weighed against gold valued at British pounds 23,000 for the second time. The African subsidiary of the global insurer and asset manager Allianz plans to buy an eight per cent stake in Kenya’s Jubilee Holding Plc (JHL

The offer, subject to regulatory approvals, will see the Germany based firm acquire a controlling stake of between 51 and 66 per cent in Jubilee’s General Insurance business Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Mauritius, forming Jubilee-Allianz General Insurance Limited.

JHL will retain ownership of its Life and Pensions operations and its Medical insurance business in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 21 – The Aga Khan University Hospital has started conducting free COVID-19 tests for all in-patients, surgical and day surgery patients, in a precautionary measure aimed at combating the spread of the virus.

The hospital said the move will help it determine the best approach to care for its patients including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) during their admission.

Kenya’s first president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, once tried to get one of his relatives to control the Nation Media Group.

In a 2010 book titled The Birth of a Nation: The Story of a Newspaper in Kenya, Gerard Loughran, a former senior editor at the Daily Nation, narrates what transpired after Kenyatta made a proposition for one of his kinsmen to lead the firm.

After the Aga Khan opened Serena Hotel in a ceremony attended by Kenya’s founding father on February 16, 1976, Mzee introduced the businessman to his chosen candidate.
