Let me say first what a wonderful honour it is - to become a Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, and to do so on one’s Golden Jubilee!
I am most deeply grateful to President Kibaki for this award - and for his very warm and generous words.
It is a pleasure for me to be here tonight, among so many old and new friends.

Aga Khan University Hospital Opens State Of Art Dental Clinic 2013-12-27
Posted December 27th, 2013 by librarian-hdCoastweek-- Aga Khan University Hospital has opened a state of the art dental clinic which is located on the 3rd floor of the Park Place Building at the junction of second Parklands Avenue and Limuru Road overlooking City Park forest.
The facility consists of six dental consultation rooms, a large reception area furnished with a comfortable waiting area with Wi-Fi and a big screen TV that shows educational material on dental health. It is open from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Aga Khan to Construct University for East Africa
Posted February 23rd, 2013 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan Development Network has announced plans to embark on constructing a university with branches across East Africa. Mr Firoz Rasul, the president of the Aga Khan University of East Africa, said the institution will train local human resources and open centers of excellence in each member state so that they stop sending their students abroad. Mr Joseph Mwizerwa, the principal, of Aga Khan University, said the institution will be built and administered within East Africa; the mother university is in Pakistan.

Vision 2030 boss hails Aga Khan hospital initiatives

Kenya: Future Nairobians Will Thank the Aga Khan 2012-11-30
Posted December 7th, 2012 by librarian-hdTHE Aga Khan Trust yesterday finalised an agreement with Nairobi City Council to rehabilitate City Park.
The cost of rehabilitation will run into tens of millions of dollars but it is very worthwhile investment.
The 60 hectare park in Parklands provides a recreational space that can be accessed by millions of Nairobians who otherwise have few places to relax.
Today the park is insecure and overgrown, with a congested market (that should somehow be retained) along the roadside.

Aga Khan Trust for Culture to revitalise Nairobi City Park 2012-11-30

He was speaking at a signing ceremony marking an agreement between the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) and the Government of Kenya to rehabilitate Nairobi City Park.

Posted July 29th, 2012 by librarian-hd2008, June 23-29: 2008, June 29: : Prince Hussain and Princess Khaliya attended the G.J.G. this morning as well as the Closing Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Games tonight. Prince Amyn arrived in Nairobi yesterday but went to Kigali today. He did not attend the Games in Nairobi. The launching of the Games ceremony was grandiose but the closing was not as powerful. A small fireworks ended the Ceremony. Of course tons of photos uploaded every day... Our photo-exhibition entitilled "FACES of Golden Jubilee Games", featuring events, participants, champions and spectators of the Games:

AKUH to set up a heart and cancer centre in Kenya - 2010-01-20
Posted April 20th, 2010 by heritage2010, january 20: The Aga Khan University Hospital plans to set up a heart and cancer centre in Kenya by the end of the year. The centre, the first of its kind in the region, will provide medical treatment for heart ailments and cancers, the university's president, Mr Firoz Rasul, announced on Wednesday. This is only part of their expansion agenda, which Mr Rasul said, is expected to cost more than $700 million (Sh52.5 billion). Besides offering treatment, Mr Rasul said the centre would also train specialists in cardiac diseases and cancer.

The plane carrying the Aga Khan landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 5 pm to a red carpet reception by the Government.

Both the Bujagali hydro-power projects and the construction of the undersea fibre optic cable have a strong involvment from IPS/AKFED.
