2008, March 18: According to Eliyas Biryabarema of the Monitor quoted in Business Daily [Nairobi], Euromoney, Europe's top financial magazine, has named two infrastructure projects among Africa's best in 2007. Both the Bujagali hydro-power projects and the construction of the undersea fibre optic cable have a strong involvment from IPS/AKFED.

2009, July 26: Nairobi - Kenya. H.H. The Aga Khan and Princess Zahra visited the AKUH this afternoon as part of a working visit in the region for AKDN projects. Several hundreds people were standing for hours on 3rd Parklands to welcome him. To their surprise, His Highness, accompanied with Princess Zahra, Ambassador Dehlavi of the Board of Trustee, Dr. Firoz Rasul, Asmita Gilani and other high level AKU staff walked on 3rd Parklands street. 2009, January 21: Aga Khan University held its 5th Graduation ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya, marking the graduation of 185 students in the fields of Medecine and Nursing. [Photo Heritage] Dr Firoz Rassul, the president of AKU together with the guest of honour, Mr. Joseph G. M. Massaqoi, Director UNESCO warmly congratulated the graduants. AKU is planning to establish a new Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Arusha, Tanzania along with a second Faculty of Health Sciences in Nairobi, Kenya.

2009, January 22: AKU Dental Clinic - His Excellency, Ross Hynes, the Canadian High Commissioner in Nairobi, officially opened the new dental clinic in the Doctors Plaza of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi.
