Former Getty Director Michael Brand Heads to Aga Khan Museum - 2010-08-23
Posted August 23rd, 2010 by heritageTORONTO. Michael Brand, the former J. Paul Getty Museum director who stepped down at the Los Angeles institution earlier this year, has been appointed to a consultancy post at the Aga Khan Development Network.
The position places Brand — an expert in Asian art — in line to assume the directorship of the Islamic art and culture museum when it opens in a Fumihiko Maki-designed building in 2013.

Copyright Lawsuit Allegedly by Aga Khan: MOTION FOR DISMISSAL FILED - 2010-06-21
Posted June 21st, 2010 by heritageOn June 21st, the Defendants filed a motion for an order granting summary judgment dismissing the plaintiff's action. The Motion introduces new evidence of forgery and says: "The activities complained of are not infringing the rights of the Aga Khan, who it appears from the forged signatures, has not authorized this action." The motion will be argued 12-JUL-2010 to begin at 09:30, and an affidavit of reply is due from the plaintiff 10 days before this date.

The Ismaili Centre is an 80,000 square foot two-storey building housing a Prayer Hall, entrance foyers and cloakrooms, social hall, library, meeting rooms, administrative offices, main council chamber room, associated facilities such as washrooms, kitchens, etc. and a two level underground parking garage with a capacity of approximately 300 parking spaces.

Aga Khan to build 'Islamic Cultural Hub' at King's Cross - London - 2010-05-28
Posted June 3rd, 2010 by heritageH. H. the Aga Khan is in talks to develop a major Islamic learning and cultural "hub" at the £2 billion King's Cross Central development in north London.
His foundation has opened negotiations for a large facility on the 67-acre site, and may occupy as many as five buildings. They are mainly for students and educational facilities, but a museum of some kind has not been ruled out.

The final Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar in October 2010. The range from a textile factory in Turkey to a school built on a bridge in China.

Obama to Host East AFrican Muslims At 2-Day US Summit - 2010-04-26

Serena opens branch at Lake Victoria, Uganda - 2010-04-19
Posted April 19th, 2010 by heritageTHE Serena Group has set up a second hotel in the country, the Lake Victoria Serena Resort. The resort, which is part of the Aga Khan economic empire, lies on an expansive piece of land measuring 275 acres on the shores of Lake Victoria.
President Yoweri Museveni yesterday presided over the official opening.

Aleppo, Syria, to Undergo Historical Restoration - 2010-04-19
Posted April 19th, 2010 by heritageIn this ancient fortress city in northern Syria, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited settlements, an ambitious restoration project is near completion in the Old City. Bloomberg is reporting that a master plan for development has been laid out for the next 15 years.
The most spectacular renewal is the Citadel castle: Workers cleared its deep moat, cleaned its formidable walls and removed tons of rubble. The work is backed by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, whose goal is to revitalize run-down communities and monuments.
