The visit comes in response to an invitation from Tajikistan's Government, and within the context of His Highness' Golden Jubilee - the Aga Khan is visiting some 30 countries around the world which have long-standing and close relations with the Imamat to express his gratitude and friendship with governments, leaders, and other partners of the AKDN. During his five-day visit to Tajikistan, His Highness the Aga Khan will hold talks with a number of high-ranking Tajik state officials.

The prince plans to meet with leaders of Kazakhstan, the ministry said in a Thursday. According to the statement, Aga Khan will attend a groundbreaking ceremony that marks start of construction of a branch of Central Asian University in Tekeli (in Almaty oblast, southeast Kazakhstan).

The world's biggest humanitarian prize has been awarded to BRAC, the largest non-profit organization in the developing world. The 2008 Hilton Humanitarian Prize of $1.5 million honors BRAC, a Bangladeshi-based NGO, for its achievements in helping to eradicate poverty in nine Asian and African countries. Lisa Schlein reports for VOA from Geneva where the award was announced.

Posted October 5th, 2008 by heritagePARIS, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Super filly Zarkava, ridden by Christophe Soumillon, stormed to victory in the $5.58 million Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday, the world's richest race on turf.
The hot favourite, overcoming fears about the softish ground, took up the running with 300 metres to go and quickly put the issue beyond doubt. She has now won all her seven races.
Trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre for the Aga Khan, Zarkava became the first filly to win the Arc since Urban Sea in 1993.

The Aga Khan's filly proved her brilliance and justified favouritism under cool handling from her jockey Christophe Soumillon.
Trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre and running in the colours of the Aga Khan Zarkava beat last year's runner-up Youmzain.
