Posted August 25th, 2023 by librarian-hdMumbai: The Aga Khan Shia Ismaili Muslim community has approached the government, seeking to draft a law to keep those charitable trusts and properties out from the Waqf Board's ambit that are not 'waqf'. Among the Muslim community, a 'waqf' is a permanent dedication (property) to God. Members of different sects within the community have contended that even those trusts that were created and meant for charitable functions have been listed as 'waqf' by the Board.

Aga Khan, the chairman of Aga Khan Development network, arrived here today on a 12-day India visit during which he will meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Vice President Hamid Ansari.
Khan would preside over an inauguration ceremony to mark the completion of the restoration of Humayun's Tomb Heritage site tomorrow.
The restoration work at the heritage site has been carried out by the Aga Khan Trust.
