June 9, 2009 - Edmonton--The University of Alberta and the Aga Khan University today signed a memorandum of understanding that advances their respective goals to increase global engagement and to promote equitable human advancement and social justice throughout the world.

The Aga Khan University signed a memorandum of understanding that strengthens ties with the University of Alberta. Cooperation between both institutions promises to bring great advances to world knowledge in diverse areas of study from health sciences to culture to resource conservation to business. The Aga Khan also received an honorary doctor of laws degree from the U of A

EDMONTON — The Aga Khan signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday during a visit to Edmonton that will strengthen ties with the University of Alberta.

The spiritual leader of the Shia Ismali Muslims was in town to deliver the convocation, as well as receive an honorary doctor of laws.

Tuesday's memorandum of understanding builds on a collaboraton between the U of A and the Aga Khan University first signed almost exactly three years ago.

8 May 2009 — An historic international agreement was signed between the Portuguese Republic and the Ismaili Imamat on matters relating to religion, cooperation, culture and education. The agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Luis Amado and Mawlana Hazar Imam at the Portuguese Ministry of State and Foreign Affairs.

It is an immense honour for me to be here today and to have been admitted to the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon. It reminds me of the day on which I was given an honorary doctorate from the University of Evora. And I do not want to let this occasion pass, without recollecting that very, very special day.

Jose Policarpo, the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon and Chancellor of the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), and Portugal's Foreign Minister, Luis Amado, amongst other senior officials.

Berlin, Germany, 15 May 2009 - His Highness the Aga Khan arrived in Berlin yesterday for a two-day official visit to hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel, Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul.
