"Today on Imamat Day, we join Ismaili Muslims in Canada and around the world to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the accession of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV as the 49th hereditary Imam – spiritual leader – of Shia Ismaili Muslims. This year, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, people will mark this day a bit differently with loved ones at home, but as always, with immense joy.

Ismaili Muslims in Canada and around the world celebrate Imamat Day today.

OTTAWA, ON, July 11, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims from Canada and around the world will celebrate Imamat Day, marking the 64th anniversary of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV becoming the 49th hereditary Imam and spiritual leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. His Highness succeeded his grandfather, the Aga Khan III, on July 11, 1957.

In more senses than one, the sun has shone on this, our first formal visit to British Columbia and to its beautiful capital, Vancouver. My wife and I have traveled extensively in recent years and I can honestly say that I cannot recollect any country nor any city which has welcomed us so warmly, so kindly and so generously as Vancouver. It is my very great pleasure to welcome you on behalf of His Highness the Aga Khan, and the entire Board of the Global Centre for Pluralism to our 8th Annual Pluralism Lecture

This year’s Annual Pluralism Lecture, presented by the Global Centre for Pluralism in partnership with the University of British Columbia, will be livestreamed on 19 May, and will feature opening remarks by Princess Zahra Aga.

The 8th Annual Pluralism Lecture, entitled “The Moment of Encounter: History, Disruptions, and Transformations” will be delivered by Ethiopian-American novelist Maaza Mengiste from New York’s Center for Fiction.

This week marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, traditionally observed by Muslims around the world as the time during which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) received the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an.

On behalf of the International Social Development and Sports Foundation, let me welcome you to the International Ismaili Women's Forum. I hope that you have all had safe journeys, and that you are rested and ready for three days of hard work. Before we begin, I would like to thank the Canadian National Council, the International Steering Committee and the many volunteers who have invested countless hours and made tremendous personal sacrifices to prepare this event.

Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa Canada and Agha Khan Development Network in Canada will work together to further promote, motivate and facilitate Canadian and expatriate Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan and coordinate efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was decided during a virtual meeting between Pakistan High Commissioner in Canada Raza Bashir Tarar and, Diplomatic Representative Aga Khan Development Network Dr Mahmoud Eboo in Canada.

Mowlana Shah Karim and Begum Salimah arrive in Ottawa, received by Chief Protocol Officer Mr. L.H. Amyot, the Honorary Secrectary of the Admin. Committee for Ottawa Mr Azeem Motani and his wife Noorjehan. They came as guests of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. To commemorate the occasion, the My Flag was flown over Rideau Gate, the hotel where Hazar Imam and the Begum stayed

The Aga Khan Museum in Toronto has acquired a colossal sculpture made from 100,000 pieces of Lego by the Ghanian-Canadian artist Ekow Nimako, who is known for his Afrofuturist reimaginings of Black histories built from Lego bricks.
