Today Alberta Premier Alison Redford and His Highness the Aga Khan signed an Agreement of Cooperation to expand collaboration in the areas of health sciences, education, the environment, forestry and natural resources management, culture, and private sector and economic development.

The Foundation Ceremony of the new Women’s Wing at the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) today, marked the start of construction for a new obstetrics and gynaecology wing on the hospital premises that will provide high quality care for mothers and newborns in Afghanistan. The building, which will take 24 months to complete, will offer 52 additional beds for obstetric and gynecologic care and a 14-bed neonatal intensive care unit — the first in Afghanistan.

His Excellency Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and His Highness the Aga Khan officially opened the restored mausoleum of Timur Shah today.

Dalkala won the 5th Race for H.H. The Aga Khan on the Opening day of the 2012 Arc d'Triomphe at Longchamps. This 5th Race - the Qatar Prix de Royallieu - had the highest winners' purse in the amount of 250,000.00 euros for this day.

The Aga Khan's racing colors were represented by 4 horses in Races 2,3, 5 and 6 with the jockey for all races being CP Lemaire.

Race 2 horse was Verema, Race 3 had Sarkiyla, Race 5 was run by the winner Dalkala and Race 6 was run by Parisham.

H.H. The Aga Khan arived in Dar es Salam, Tanzania for AKDN work and official givernment meetings. He will be visiting Arusha also where the AKU will have its East African main campus.

In His Speech, Prince Amyn said:

"...the Aga Khan Foundation’s Childhood Development Program, its Early Childhood Centre in Lisbon and its two affiliates outside the capital are intensifying collaboration with the institutions of the Catholic Church in providing training to early childhood educators. We are also working with other important partners, including the University of Minho."

And in looking at this background, I ask myself where do we find partners? Partners to work with us, partners where we can share thinking, partners where we will find human resources who will work with us.

An unparalleled leader in development, cultural preservation and philanthropy, largely benefiting poor and marginalized communities in Asia and Africa, is being honored with the 2011 Urban Land Institute (ULI) J.C. Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development. His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims and leader of the nondenominational Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), was named the 2011 Nichols Laureate today at ULI's Annual Fall Meeting and Urban Land Expo in Los Angeles.
