Tanzanian awarded for boosting development 2013-09-27
Posted September 27th, 2013 by librarian-hdFrance has conferred its highest decoration medal to a Tanzanian Amin Kurji for his outstanding achievements and eminent services for the promotion of French culture, education and arts between France and Tanzania.
The medal was presented to him on behalf of the French President Francois Hollande by the country’s envoy to Tanzania Marcel Escure.
The award is the top French National order of the ‘Legion of Honor’ which was established way back in 1801 by French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

Aga Khan IV opens ‘Jamaatkhana’
Posted October 4th, 2013 by librarian-hdDHAKA (Vnewsbd.com) – Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the 49th Imam of Nizari Ismailism, inaugurated newly built Jamaatkhana for Ismaili Muslims in Bashundhara Residential area, Baridhara in the capital on Tuesday.
The 49th Imam of Nizari Ismailism, arrived here Dhaka on Monday morning on a two-day visit.
A MOU was signed between Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and Bangladesh on Monday and as per the MOU, AKDN will boost its development works by ten of its affiliated associations in different sectors like education, health, and environment.

Afghan President meets Ismailis Leader
Posted December 22nd, 2013 by librarian-hdPrince Karim Aga Khan Ismailis leader arrived to Kabul Saturday morning to discuss development projects funded by the Aga Development Network in Afghanistan.
According to the presidential website, Karzai has thanked Aga Khan for the development projects he has funded in the last 12 years in Rehabilitation of historical places, Health and Education sectors.
The Aga Khan Development Network is one of the largest donor organizations operating in 30 countries, employing over 80,000 people.

Finally, new offices for EA Community 2012-11-28

Presidents Kibaki, Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania and Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi officiated at the colourful ceremony attended by The Aga Khan, who is the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
Rwandan President Paul Kagame was represented by Prime Minister Pierre Habumuremyi, while Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni was represented by his Minister for State for East African Affairs, Mr Shem Bagaine.

Posted October 8th, 2013 by librarian-hdQatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend at Longchamp started off in the best possible fashion for the Aga Khan as the owner celebrated a winner in the Qatar Prix Chaudenay.
It was Valirann, a course-and-distance winner in Group Three company last month, who stepped up one grade with Christophe Soumillon producing him with a strong late run and holding off stern challenges from Montclair and Lucky Loo in a head-bob.
British raider Nearly Caught attemped to make all of the mile and seven furlongs but weakened in the closing stages and was sixth.

Aga Khan, the chairman of Aga Khan Development network, arrived here today on a 12-day India visit during which he will meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Vice President Hamid Ansari.
Khan would preside over an inauguration ceremony to mark the completion of the restoration of Humayun's Tomb Heritage site tomorrow.
The restoration work at the heritage site has been carried out by the Aga Khan Trust.

Aga Khan arrives in Dhaka 2013-09-16
Posted September 16th, 2013 by librarian-hdPrince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the 15 million Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning on a two-day visit.
Foreign minister Dipu Moni received him at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on his arrival by private a jet to a red carpet reception.
From there, he will go to the National Memorial in Savar to pay respects to the Liberation War heroes, a foreign ministry official says.
The Aga Khan is also the founder and Chairperson of the Aga Khan Development Network, one of the largest private development groups in the world.

20 Projects Shortlisted for US$ 1 million Aga Khan Award for Architecture

The 20 nominees for the US$ 1 million prize range from a modern high rise apartment block to the revival of traditional building techniques. City Park face lift: Aga Khan, govt. sign agreement

The government and the Aga Khan Trust have formalized the project to restore the Nairobi City Park. His Highness The Aga Khan and Prime Minister Raila Odinga signed the agreement to rehabilitate the Park at the Nairobi National Museum paving the way for the Aga Khan Trust to embark on the rehabilitation early next year.
