How Kenyatta's Control of Nation Media Was Thwarted
Posted September 27th, 2019 by librarian-hdKenya’s first president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, once tried to get one of his relatives to control the Nation Media Group.
In a 2010 book titled The Birth of a Nation: The Story of a Newspaper in Kenya, Gerard Loughran, a former senior editor at the Daily Nation, narrates what transpired after Kenyatta made a proposition for one of his kinsmen to lead the firm.
After the Aga Khan opened Serena Hotel in a ceremony attended by Kenya’s founding father on February 16, 1976, Mzee introduced the businessman to his chosen candidate.

Government at Harvard University (HKS) launched the Transforming Leadership for 21st Century Africa Programme on September 15, 2019 at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nairobi. This marks the second consecutive year GSMC and HKS have collaborated to deliver the leadership programme, which helps executives from Africa, exercise leadership amid uncertainty with skill and effectiveness, while communicating for impact.

Work for your dreams, Joho, Hensley urge budding basketballers at Aga Khan Academy - Mombasa

Hensley, visited the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa to meet the school’s girls and boys basketball teams in light of their numerous high-level achievements, most notably in the National Games and with the Giants of Africa basketball camps.
After watching the teams play, Joho and Hensley spoke to the teams about the importance of being active in sports while also striving to perform well in academics.

Agha Khan University Hospital invests Ksh600 million to fight cancer
Posted October 26th, 2018 by librarian-hdAga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi has announced that it has invested more than KES 600 million to become the first hospital in the region to introduce a state-of-the-art technology that will improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, heart disease and other diseases.
The Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET-CT) scanner and Cyclotron is the first such scanner in East and Central Africa. It enables physicians to study the body in extraordinary detail, allowing them to diagnose diseases early and plan the most effective course of treatment.

Aga Khan donates equipment to TVET
Posted September 27th, 2018 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan Foundation yesterday handed over Sh3.5 million equipment to the Garissa vocational training centre.
The equipment — including sewing machines, fabric, electrical and beauty therapy products — were received on behalf of the institution by area deputy Abdi Dagane.
Hasma Awadh of the Aga Khan Foundation said the equipment were purchased by funds they received from the EU. She said the three-year project will improve the socio-economic opportunities for youth in Northern Kenya. Dagane said youth enrolment to the centre was still low despite the county’s support.
