Princess Zahra and Prince Rahim visit Gilgit and inaugurate health centre 2016-05-26
Islamabad, 25 May 2016 — Princess Zahra and Prince Rahim were in Gilgit yesterday, where they inaugurated a 50-bed medical centre that will serve as a healthcare hub for the surrounding region. They also visited other AKDN programmes and a Jamatkhana in the area.
The new medical centre is equipped to provide high quality diagnostics and secondary healthcare services. It also serves as a digital link between clinics in outlying villages and connects them with state-of-the-art medical resources in Pakistan and around the world.

Pakistani women scale the heights in rescue teams
Posted February 18th, 2021 by librarian-hdShamim Bano, a middle-school teacher, has recently returned from a fortnight in Kabul where she taught Afghan women to do search and rescue work. The training “involved climbing mountains and gorges using ropes and harnesses, using ziplines and rappelling. Any wrong move and you can start a rock fall,” she explained.
Handling serious casualties, “with broken bones, head, neck and back injuries,” was also part of the training, she added.
