Posted October 2nd, 2016 by librarian-hdEgypt's Ministry of Antiquities will sign on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) in order to broaden institutional engagement through cultural joint ventures and exchange programmes and activities in the field of museums and archaeology.
Secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Amin said that the MoU aims to develop joint ventures in the fields of conservation, museum programmes, archaeological research and exhibitions.

CAIRO: The 14th century mosque of the Amir Aqsunqur, better known as the Blue Mosque, has been opened to the public Saturday after the completion of a six-year renovation project.
The mosque had been closed since 1992 due to damage it had suffered from an earthquake in the same year.

As part of the Al-Darb al-Ahmar Urban Regeneration Program, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) has commenced the renovation work in 2009.

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab met on Saturday 2/5/2015 with head of the Aga Khan Foundation Prince Karim Aga Khan, Cabinet Spokesman Hossam El Qawish said.
During the meeting, Mahlab hailed efforts and projects implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation in Egypt. He pointed out to the possibility to sign a cooperation protocol between the government and the foundation that aims to enable the foundation to carry out maintenance works in mosques, added the spokesman.

Aga Khan Trust for Culture Restores the "Blue Mosque" in Cairo 2015-05-02
Posted May 3rd, 2015 by librarian-umedCairo, 2 May 2015 – Restoration of the 14th century Amir Aqsunqur “Blue Mosque” in Al-Darb al-Ahmar has been completed by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) as part of the larger Al-Darb al-Ahmar Urban Regeneration Programme.
The Minister of Antiquities, Mamdouh El Damaty, and the Governor of Cairo, Galal Said, joined His Highness the Aga Khan in marking the occasion at the Mosque.
