Our ideals and those of Bangladesh are both inspired by the same faith, which lays such emphasis on the brotherhood of man. The improvement of the human condition must be a principal obligation of every Muslim, whether those he helps are of his own faith or not.

I wish to take this exceptional occasion to pay a deep personal gratitude to a truly remarkable African who was himself at one time a journalist, then who led his country's struggle for independence and who finally became the first President of Kenya, and an outstanding African statesman. I refer to Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
