Aga Khan gives £27m to Chantilly restoration 2005-03-03
Posted February 13th, 2017 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan is to donate €40m (£27.4m) of his fortune to help restore France's largest privately owned estate, which includes a park, a Renaissance chateau, a racecourse and the biggest classical art collection in the country outside the Louvre.
The billionaire businessman and racehorse owner, who is a British citizen, will provide more than half of a €70m fund set up with the French state, the Institut de France - which owns the magnificent but badly decayed Chantilly estate - and local authorities.

Hazar Imam arrived at Chantilly on Saturday October 1st with Princess Zahra and Princess Salwa.
Zarak jockeyed by C. Soumillon came in 3rd in the Qatar Prix Dollar Stakes - Group 2
In the Qatar Prix Du Cadran Stakes - Group 1 Vazirabad came in 2nd with jockey C. Soumillon
Hazar Imam's winning horse Harzand - winner of the 2016 Epsom Derby - was featured in the Qatar Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe (Group 1) on Sunday October 2nd.

News of the birth of Prince Irfan has been greeted with immense joy by the worldwide Jamat. Jamati leaders have sent messages of congratulations to the family with prayers for the Prince’s long life and wellbeing.

DALAKHANI BRILLIANT IN FRENCH DERBY - 2003-06-01
Posted February 25th, 2010 by heritageDalakhani maintained his unbeaten record in most impressive style as he galloped away with the Prix du Jockey-Club at Chantilly.
The handsome grey colt was always seemingly coasting in the French Derby and pulled clear of his rivals in the final two furlongs, with jockey Christophe Soumillon barely having to shake his reins to get the desired result.
Even Super Celebre, the only real challenger to emerge from out of the pack in the home straight in pursuit of the winner, was flattered to get within two lengths at the line.
Coroner finished a further three lengths away in third place.

The horse's list of honours already included the French Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe before he landed the most prestigious racing award in Europe.
His trophies, for Horse of The Year and Three-Year-Old Colt, were picked up by his trainer, Alain de Royer-Dupre and Princess Zahra Aga Khan, who is taking an increasingly-prominent role in her father's breeding empire.
